M Serial Prefix mdl.34-1
1969-1970 M1-M30000

Could this 34-1 with ser.# M3 be the 3rd.one made or one made later?

Wasn’t there a collector with an inside track at the factory that arranged to buy serial number 3 guns? Maybe one of his?

Obviously not the third kitgun. Whether it was the third M-series kit gun made, who knows? If the serial number was set aside, maybe, and maybe not.

It is a persistent myth that guns are assembled in strict serial order. It simply is not true and there is a ton of evidence to the contrary.

M29since ,I understand there 7 serial # 3 S&W made,5 were brought in for sale
in a shop near where i live,2 were sold in a shop in Denver,my friend bought
N3,I bought & have D3,H3,J3,M3.The shop owner won`t say who brought
them in for sale.
