Default 29-2 and ampersand &

Hello All,

Continuing my quest for a very clean 29-2, blue, 6.5.

Found a few on GB.

I have noticed on some guns the ampersand in Smith & Wesson on the barrel is perfect, some guns it looks like a 4 year old scribed it.

Were some cut well other not so well or is there something else going on with the crooked ampersand?

Thank you for your time,

Varooom

There is a member here "Doc44" who is the Forum expert on everything Model 29. There used to be an expert commentary section where he explains the differences in the & (ampersand). Sadly, I no longer see the expert commentary section. The one you talk about that looks like a 4 year old did it is affectionately called the "Lazy A". It was generally used till about 1970, although there were other variations of the ampersand used during the 60's and 70's.
