I'm a bit disappointed by his spiel on how hard it is to date S&W. Somebody needs to send him an invitation to join us here.

There is something special about the 19 (mine's a 6" 19-3), though I'm unable to specifically pinpoint exactly what it is. I have revolvers that are fancier, or more collectible, or more expensive, but the 19 is at the top of my "love-to-shoot" list. I really have to go out of my way to miss what I'm aiming at with it.

Mine is a no-dash Model 66 w/stainless sights from 1973 and only shot three times before I got it from a retired LEO who kept it in the box. The first time I shot it the sights were spot on all the way out to 25 yards.

I have a beat up 19-3, blued, 4 inch barrel and it is a hoot to shoot. I do limit the use of magnum ammo in mine these days and it longer sees the 110 or 125 grain magnum loads, but it is a fun revolver to shoot.

I've said this so many times, but I'll put it out there again.
The model 19 was and still is one of, if not, the best all around handguns ever produced. If the shooter does his part the model 19 will see that business is taken care of.

I could not agree more, Fred.

I completely agree. I shoot my Model 19 better than any other handgun, pistol or revolver, that I have shot.

Here's my "Combat Magnum."

Thanks for looking at my Combat Magnum.

For many here, the attraction of the 19 is that we carried it for a long time as Police. We depended upon it to keep us safe. We formed a bond with that piece of wood and steel that , in my case, will last a life time. And then if we had to use it to get us home, the stronger the bond. I still have mine after 46 years. Its my favorite.

Default My Dad's 19-3

My Dad's 19-3, circa 1974. I inherited it, along with the Tyler T-grip and Roy's Leather Goods pancake holster, when he passed away a few months ago (he was retired FBI). I have shot it a couple of times and plan on handing it down to my son when I'm gone.

p.s. just joined, my first post!

Cheers,
elec-engr

My condolences on the loss of your father.

He left you a fine handgun with a great history. I hope you'll shoot and enjoy it.

Welcome, EE. I am sad to hear about your dad. I lost my father 7 years ago, it leaves a hole that can never be filled.

He left you a fine inheritance, I'm glad you will pass it along.

That was my first handgun. Except it was a dash 4, TT TH TS. and like an idiot I sold it to buy something else.
Maybe I'll find another someday. California makes it really hard to find old handuns.

I’ve been subbed to hickock45 for years and saw his original video on this gun. The one he said he sold to John. I picked up my 19-3 with 4-inch barrel used in 1984. I won’t ever sell this one. You should be able to make out the S.C.S.O. below the cylinder. The S.C. could be dozens of places but I’m pretty sure the S.O. stands for Sheriff’s Office.

My other half has a 19-4 with 6-inch barrel. Softer shooting.

a letter would tell you where SC of SCSO is located. Or maybe not. But it would be fun to know. I love my K frames.

I wonder how many guns Hickok45 has sold by stirring up interest in his videos. He has a way of showing you how much he loves certain guns. Here’s my 4” 19-3.
