Default I Know I'm Supposed To Be Downsizing...But

I have been downsizing my collection, but last weekend I went to a local Gun Show with one of my former work friends. The show was horrible, and as I was leaving, I spotted this poor Model 19-2 sitting in a display case surrounded by all kinds of black Rifles and black rifle parts and all kinds if plastic semi-auto handguns. This Model 19-2 (dates to 1964 MFG) is in excellent condition and has target hammer and trigger and red ramp, white outline sights, along with really nice Goncalo diamond target grips. I called a friend and fellow S&WCA member to discuss the revolver, and he said buy it, stating how often do you see any revolvers like that, and that Model 19-2 revolvers don't come up for sale very much, so I bought. Lesson learned, don't go to gun shows anymore. I hope I did right.

We don't know what you paid so that could be a factor, but I suspect you did the right thing. A very nice acquisition.

If you can still pay for heating oil, gasoline and food this winter, then who cares what else you spend YOUR money on. It's beautiful, enjoy it.

Exactly! I am not down sizing my collection. I am enjoying them even more in retirement.

Great job! You're a hero! You rescued that beauty from a life of plastic and long barels.

Just plain and simple: A Peach!!! The pinnacle of American firearms manufacturing ability. (yes, there are the Reg. mags and Pythons and such but most of those required much hand work. These guns were produced on a mass scale and the one before it and the one behind it were of equal quality.)

And as for downsizing. I don't know your situation but I have no one to leave my stuff or my money to. I continue to buy what I like and want. I have also advised my money guy that I want to spend my last few dollars for a cold drink, on the way to the furnace. (if I an lucky enough to see the end ahead) If I leave a bunch of stuff, so what, I got to enjoy it all and when I am gone, I suspect I will have other issues to deal with!

Heating oil? We can always wear our winter parkas inside. Gasoline? O.K. we need a little but shooting right here beats any entertainment that is for sale in town. Food? What percentage of S&W forum members do you think get too skinny sitting around reading threads? Besides, we can always live for a while on rice and beans, canned food from the pantry and meat from the freezer. The real essentials are whatever guns we decide to buy on a whim.

That's the best 19-2 I've ever seen.

Maybe an equal split between the NRA and 2nd Amendment Foundation? I would have written only the NRA if they had even remembered where Washington was while east coast billionaires donated millions to get their initiatives passed here.

GB, fwiw, please consider the NRA. And I hope you don’t need to make the decision any time soon.

M29, if you look at my header, you will see that I am already fairly tight with the NRA. I am not planning on shoving off anytime soon but you never know. My brother's boy has already received some of the family guns but in order for him to get more he is going to have to make a few lifestyle changes. Anyway, sorry for the thread drift. It is a shame to take anything away from that mighty fine 19-2. GB

I'll go to a one table gun show if I think I might find a deal. You bought a very nice revolver. I picked up a nickel 19-3 with the same features a few months ago for $550.00 OTD. As mentioned above, you rescued a gun you don't often see for sale.

Nice catch with all the goodies. Forget that down sizing, it's not all that it's cracked up to be.

Jeeze, can I follow you and the guy who paid 200.00 for a 29 at an estate sale around.

Just once I would like to find something like that.

Be thankful you have gun shows to go to. Up here in the DRRI we never have them, and the LGS's never have any thing special

Terrific pick up.

I always wonder when I hear or read stories about the nugget in amongst the heathens if the seller has a clue what he's got. I reckon some do.
