Apparently, here it is! Can't believe it didn't already exist, but post away. Can't wait to see the good stuff.

Make it a 29/629 thread too if you would. I have one of each.

I love Model 29's, even though they are too big for my small hands and the fact I don't have many.

We can start with an early no dash. Can't find a photo of the blue box, but it came in one.

How about a dash 2, NC SHP Commemorative. First Model 29 commemorative and first (and maybe last) use of acid etching.

And a dash 3

And finally: an old photo of an early pre-29, not pristine and with wrong grips. The gun that started my obsession with S&W revolvers

I only have one, this factory engraved 29-2.

I was told that it was most likely sent to Italy by S&W to have the engraving done.

I just bought a 29-3, nickel plated 6.5" barrel from my local pawn shop/gun range/gun store. I absolutely love it. Every time I shoot it people hear it and come up to me wanting to know what I'm shooting. It's a cannon.

If you don't mind 44 mags before model numbers here is my luckiest find, a 5" 44 Magnum from 1958.

Model 29-2 shipped in June 1974 in its relined presentation case. Second photo is of 44 Magnum, S121836, the first 44 Magnum built in January 1955 (only surviving prototype). Click on the photos for a better look.

Nothing special, but here are mine. An 8 3/8 29-3 with the integral scope mount cuts, a 629-1 that came to me with the shortened, Mag-na-ported barrel, a 1954 Highway Patrolman that Pat Linthicum did a Model 29 barrel and cylinder swap on, and a new TALO Deluxe 629

I'll add mine. I like endurance package guns more than anything else.

Here are 3 29-6s and the top one is a 29-4 classic hunter from 1989.

Here's my only 29... A 29-3 with ivory stocks. This is the only picture I have right now, with the gun lying on a target shot by my oldest son down at our camp. Come to think of it, what better picture could I have?

Anyway, here it is, a little dirty, and freshly shot:

Best Regards, Les

Here are my 2 44 Mag revolvers. A 29-6 Classic and a 629-3 Classic. Both are wearing Culina round to square conversion target stocks, replacing the rubbers that came on them.

My 629-3 Classic with Olive wood stocks:

This one is my 29-6 Classic wearing some Bubinga wood stocks:

Haven't seen anyone in nearby lanes looking for who set the bomb off...but have seen a few headed for the door when that beauty lets go on full house.

44 Magnum, S166065, one of the first one hundred made by S&W and shipped to Union Hardware & Metal in Los Angeles on April 2, 1956. It was a product sample intended to show off the new model. It is shown in its original pebble grain presentation case numbered to the revolver on the bottom in white grease pencil with original accessories and warranty card. Click on the photo for a much better look.

S166292 and S166293, shipped to Camfour, Inc. in Springfield, MA on July 12, 1956. This is the first consecutive pair of 44 Magnums shipped by S&W. They are shown in a custom Huey case. Each revolver is near new with only a very slight turn line. Click on the photo for a much better look.

44 Magnum, S147213, shipped to Pete Kuhlhoff of Argosy Magazine in January 1956 for evaluation and testing. Featured in an article on the 44 Magnum in the May 1956 issue of Argosy and at least six other subsequent articles by Mr. Kuhlhoff and Elmer Keith. Shipped with a special cloth lined presentation case with a special liner in the top showing the S&W logo (S&W wanted the logo to be seen in photos). This is perhaps, the best 44 Magnum regarding fit and finish and with special oversize stocks, I have ever seen. Click on the photo for a better look.

I like my model 29-3 well enough to cloth it properly.
On the left in Myres 614 Threepersons.
2nd from left in Chic Gaylord's Combat Speed Scabbard.
3rd from left in Lawrence 34 FBI quick draw holster.
4th from left in Sparks 200AW5
5th from left, at right, wearing Herrett's stocks.
(My Model 27 on the left keeping it company)

I had always wanted a way to commemorate my being president of the S&WCA from 2007-2009. In 2010, my wife and I visited Roy and Jean Jinks and Roy suggested I contact S&W's Customer Service Department and tell them what I wanted. I did, and the result in shown below. It is a Model 29-10 with the S&WCA logo on the side plate and an inscription on the right side of the barrel (both laser etched). I am very happy with the way the Magnum turned out. Click on the photo for a better look.

Nice thread.

I did remove the extended cylinder releases on these and went back to the originals.

I have a 29-2 4" Blued, a 29-3 4" Nickel, and a 629-6 6". All shoot great, but the 29-3 has the best action and accuracy.

My only. Bought it new in the early 80's. Saw some fun use for a couple years in the rockies and then went into a time capsule for decades, it and it's original boxes. I re-lined the case recently.

Nice! If you’re only going to have one, they don’t get much better than that.
