Default 64-3 questions

I placed an online bid on what is being advertised as a S&W Model 64-3. It has a pinned barrel but it also had the new style cylinder release latch. Is that style cylinder release latch correct for a 64-3?

Nope. They're easily swapped out, though; Numrich should have the part.

The model 64's were a very popular service weapon. Nothing wrong with police turn-ins but seller should advise that it is if it is.

I have several turn-in 64's that show no defacing property marks as they were easily removed.

This particular revolver is part of a collection of 225+ firearms. Auction company states that they are an FFL licensed dealer but "aren't gun experts". They list the gun as 80% in spite of having the wrong latch and as having Pachmayr grips. The grips are the Uncle Mike's combat grips that have been selling for $50+ on eBay. As long as it is a good functional shooter and I can get it for a good price, I will be happy.
