I'm still reluctant to shoot my 1951 K-38 Heavy Masterpiece. I may some day, but like you, I have enough 6" Smiths to shoot .38's out of.

Nothing that I wouldn't shoot. Some that I don't shoot, just for lack of time or change in interest, but I've got ammo for everything. I've said several times here that I won't own a gun I wouldn't shoot, and I proved it to myself a couple years ago by selling an unfired Ed Brown that I inherited from my father to buy four other pistols (maybe five, I forget. . . )

I don't own any that I won't shoot. I've got a few that don't get shot very often. But I do shoot them all.

I've owned plenty of guns that were safe queens.
I've also owned plenty of Smiths, including about five PC guns. All were fired except for a couple of NIB 41s(I have a 41 that I've used) and a couple of NIB 34-2s. I had a 63 that I used once or twice.

Very nice. I like having a couple of guns that have never been shot.
I only shoot .38s in one of my guns and that's because its a .38. All I shoot in my .357s is .357 ammo.

As was said above, I have a number of guns that I haven't shot in a long time, but only two that I won't shoot. One long gun and one hand gun.
The handgun is a recently acquired (from a board member - picture is his) 8 3/8" Model 27-2 with all the accouterments.
The long gun is a Browning / Winchester / Miroku High Grade Model 71. It is a complement to my original 3-digit serial number Model 71 Deluxe.
Here's the original, but it has been, and will be, shot...
Adios,
Pizza Bob

I have a couple buried in the back of the safe, A high grade Browning Model 42 which is a copy of the Winchester, a Ruger Woodside shotgun, An early Colt Delta Elite, TC Cougar, just odd stuff, nothing real rare.
I have duplicates in my collection that I do shoot making it easier to leave these unfired

I wouldn't mind adding that one to my other Safe Queens.
.357s are my favorite handguns. I have a 27 no-dash, my 27-7 and I have recently acquired a 1955?? .357 Magnum with a 3.5" barrel that I haven't taken possession of yet.

My brother did the same thing. He bought two 125th Anniversary 25-3 and shot one of them keeping the one that I now have unfired.

My 41s were .22s.
I've owned three new 357 magnums.A 19-3, a 27-7 and a 27-8. I never had a desire to shoot magnums in any of them. My favorite ammo was actually popping off 38 wadcutters.None ever saw even a .38 special +p. I just like the look of 357 magnum guns and beefy N frames.

I got nuthin'.
I've owned exactly two. Both were bought for significantly less than they were worth at the time.
Held on to them for 2 or 3 years and sold them for 1-1/2 to 2 times what I had into them and then used the proceeds to buy several other good shooters.

Then there’s my Model 25.
Got it from QC, my crazy Arkansas Buddy.
Everybody should have a Crazy Arkansas Buddy.
Then when you are accused of being unreasonable, illogical etc, -
But I’m not like QC!
QC was headed for Germany and absolutely insisted that I buy it.
He had a number of other guns including a bunch of shotguns, but for some reason he wanted me to have this one.
So he kept pouring and lowering until I finally agreed to buy it.

I have a 64-5 I haven’t shot. How crazy is that. But it’s kind of a unicorn in that most of them have been carried, shot, and scratched up. Mine is immaculate with a box and stuff. Doesn’t mean I won’t shoot it. I’ve recently acquired a 28 no dash, a 27-2, and a 29-2 that I haven’t shot yet. Key word being yet. I shoot my Pre-23. Why wouldn’t I shoot my 64-5? Who knows? I’ve been shooting and then cleaning other guns lately. No rhyme or reason.

1958 Pre-Model 27 6 1/2"
I bought this over 30 years ago used, not abused, and planned to have it engraved. Lucky for me one of our police dispatchers James DeMunck of Rochester, New York engraved guns and I was fortunate even with his busy engraving schedule to have him engrave this revolver for me in 1990. This is the prize peace in my collection which will be going with me to the end. The elephant ivory grips were made for me by the late Saul Weisenfeld (Gun Art) from New Jersey, with Jim doing the large pre-war silver factory medallion and 14KT diamond inlays in the grips. I also had a special wood presentation case made for it by a local artisan from Webster, New York and have the original factory blue and gold box. Considering the cost of gold today and the ban and cost of Ivory, I am very proud to own this beautifull work of gun art.

I "had" a safe queen at one time. A Ruger No. 1 in 25-06. It sat in the back of the safe unloved, un-shot and forgotten. Forgotten is the key word here. I had taken it to a gun show to sell. It didn't sell, I brought it home and stuffed in in the safe. And forgot. . . . Some years later, I was rutting around in the safe and found the darn thing. Still had the hang tag on it from when I tried to sell it. It was like Christmas morning! A gift, it seemed. I proceeded to shoot the darn thing. Still have it and it's been spoiled for posterity.

I have 2...
1) 2nd gen Colt SAA Stagecoach nib, never fired or turned.
2) S&W Model 66 no dash nib, never fired.
I have plenty of guns that I enjoy shooting on a regular basis, but neither of these guns will ever be fired by me.

That Colt is stunning.
My brother has a Colt that was made when they thought they were going out of business. The hammer has never even been cocked. Wish I was interested in it.

Like several other Forum Members, I have firearms that I do not shoot simply because I have more guns than time these days or I have multiple examples of the same configuration
However, I do have quite a few other guns that I will not shoot.
Those in the second category include this first day of production Model 649 that is unfired since leaving the factory. On day one, 25 649s between serial numbers AFN0016 and AFN0059 were selected for Master plus engraving to commemorate the new Model's Introduction in 1985
Also in this category is my Smith and Wesson .22 Military and Police Model 45 special Engraved Edition that was apart of the Factory Collection sold at auction in 1996. This is one of those exceptions to the rules as the revolver shipped 30 years after it was manufactured back in the 1960s.
This is a piece of art that just happens to use a firearm as the canvas. It is unfired since leaving the factory. It will remain being considered a piece of art until I no longer own it.
IN 2000 Banger's marked the return of the blue carbon steel Model 27 with a 4" and 6 1/2" version that carried eight rounds of 357 Magnum. A 3 1/2" and a 5" were supposed to arrive in the following year, however something happened to that relationship.
In 2006 Lew Horton picked up the ball and released the 3 1/2" and a 5" Registered Magnums, blued carbon steel Model 27 revolvers, following up with the same barrel lengths in nickel the next year
The above picture shows one of each variation of 8 shot, Model 27 that has ever been produced by Smith and Wesson. All 6 revolvers are the same serial number (with different prefixes). All 6 revolvers remain unfired since leaving the factory.
I have other 8 shot Model 27s that I do shoot on a regular basis
This is a Smith and Wesson SIGMA. It is Model number SW40Ti
This is the only Titanium SIGMA known to have been manufactured. I am guessing it was a tool room sample built to show to marketing staff or perhaps just to prove that they could do it. It has not been fired since leaving the factory.
Here is an unusual variation of the 3566 Limited.
This is the only 3566Limited that has two top ends. The slide with the domed safety lever is for 356TSW ammunition while the slide with the dished safety lever is for 40S&W ammunition. This firearm remains unfired since leaving Smith and Wesson
I have other 3566s that I enjoy shooting
Back in 2002 Colt re-introduced the Series 70 Government Model to their lineup
The Series 70 1911 pictured above is serial number 70 and remains unfired since leaving the factory.
Since I am on Colts at the moment I will continue with this 2002 USMA class pistol. Each year the graduating class at the US Military Academy at West Point designs a class pistol. These can only be purchased New by the graduates or the instructors. 2002 was also West Point's Bicentennial and the left grip panel bears the Bicentennial logo. You may have notice by now that I like serial numbers, so mine is number 45. This pistol remains unfired since I purchased it from the USMA
This is my Deluxe 20th Anniversary IPSC Commemorative pistol. Only 50 of the Deluxe versions were produced by Colt in 1996.
The only thing special about the serial number of the firearm pictured above is that it is identical to my 10 Anniversary IPSC Commemorative
Yes, even though these were manufactured 10 years apart by different companies they have the same serial numbers
There are others that I own like my Colt Bicentennial set or Snake Eyes. My US Shooting Team Gold Cup or my Deluxe Texas Ranger and Deluxe Texas Sesquicentennial and the Ed McGivern Specials. My HK 50th Anniversary USP and so on
When I was young I would sell or trade a gun to get another one. My father told me that there is no secret to having a good collection other than not selling what you already own
It took me a long time to get out of that mode and start following my Father's advice.
This is decades of adding a few nice pieces each year and just not selling off others that I own.

I only buy guns to shoot. At the gun shows I will only trade for a gun I want to shoot. I don't own one I haven't shot.

Dude, I would shoot Patton’s Registered Magnum if I was fortunate enough to acquire it. George certainly shot the snot out of it . . .

This NIB 3914, previously owned by Mr. Roy Jinks, is the only gun that I have ever purchased to put in the safe. Will not shoot it. Will not sell it.

I am unfamiliar with the concept. Guns were made to be shot. If I want a piece of art I'll buy a painting.

@ Muss Muggins. And there would be nothing wrong with you shooting Patton's registered magnum, and would fit nicely in a show us the guns you shoot thread. But my post wasn't directed towards you in particular since you mentioned at one time having an Ed Brown safe queen that you sold to pick up a few toys that you do shoot. However the random I shoot every gun I own posts that really do not contribute to the topic asked by the OP.

My.........................
"If it's ever been fired outside the factory" I can't tell 1939 Registered Magnum.
It's display mate a similar condition K-22 Masterpiece ( from 1957 but not model marked)
Had a S&W 9mm (Pre-39) anib "sock drawer gun" that never got shot.... but I sold it because I knew I'd never shoot it!!!!
My Father's 1938/39 6 inch Colt New Service in .357.... w/ King Sights and action job. It's a family heirloom......
Some other guns I've got but never shot but I would shoot if I ever needed them.

I have a lot of guns that I haven't shot but none that are too nice to shoot. I do find enjoyment in just looking at what I have not necessarily only when shooting it.

As I feel like several others, I will not own something that I do not shoot. To me it is a sin not to shoot a piece that was meant to be shot....that is what guns are for! The fancy pieces are pretty and in some cases it would be a sin for them to be damaged in any way by shooting. But those are now regulated to display pieces. Some guns are to historical/valuable to be fired, SAA #1 comes to mind and pieces of that sort. These are true museum pieces.

This is my problem. I see a gun that I feel like I can't live without and I don't have the funds to buy it so I sell something just so I can buy the new one. I have bought and owned so many guns in my life but I have very few to show because of this.

Story of my life, right there.
But...on the other hand. I have owned a lot of guns.

Nate-Dogg-Sometime I’ll tell you about the Python I sold for $200 to buy a nickel 19 which I sold for $150. More importantly I had a chance to buy an original AC Cobra for $25000 or the 57 Fuelie Corvette that was next to it for less money. Alas, I replaced the 19 for 4 times the money a couple years ago. Those old Cobras now sell for over 40 times the money. That was the real bonehead move. Congrats on the 66 you bought. I usually go to the Wichita show but Santa got my money....

Exactly. The people who don't get it, don't get it... And that's okay.
I'm really enjoying this thread, though. Keep the pictures coming!
