Default Model 25-2 Added to the Accumulation

I ended up with three new to me revolvers at yesterday's auction. This one sort of fell in the basket by accident but a very good accident to happen.

I like it! And since I'm a 1911 guy ammo would be plentiful!

lamarw, that is a beauty. I do love the Model 25 revolvers. Mine is a Model 25-5 and I hope you find much pleasure and enjoyment from your 25-2.

Here is my Model 25.

S&W Model 25-5 in .45 Colt.

Thanks for looking at my Model 25-5. I call mine "Black Beauty."

God bless,
Birdgun

I favor the 45 long Colt but there is nothing wrong with a 25-2 in 45 acp. Enjoy.

I was entrusted with a really nice 25-2 in November . What a pleasure to shoot. The only downside is loading and unloading the moon clips. Mine came with a home made loader and unloader that works great from the bench or table. Not something I would likely bring to the indoor range though. So I try to load up with enough clips to last a session. I am also a 45 ACP guy with a 1911 and 3rd Gen 4513TSW and 4506-1 as heavily used tools and for leisure.

Looks like a great one to add.

A Model 29-2 with nickel finish and a 4" barrel, and a .44 Hand Ejector Triple Lock.

Every one should own a model 25-2. A very accurate revolver with the correct ammo which is FMJ ball. The 1950 Targets and 1955 Target have a more shallow rifling just for that load in a target version.
Some people get them mixed up with the 25-5 and will drone on about oversized throat problems which do not pertain to the 25-2.
Congratulations.

Got my 25-2 several years back.

Guy wanted a semi-auto rifle so I traded him what was about $400 worth of a rifle, accessories and ammo at that time....….and then never looked in the rear view mirror.

He seemed very pleased to get rid of an old-timey revolver, and I was very pleased to take it off of his hands.

I enjoy the 45 ACP revolver. My first was a M25-2. I picked it up from a fellow PPC competitor. I wanted it for PPC but this one had the 6 1/2” barrel, too long for PPC. That revolver did start a lifelong appreciation for the ACP revolver. I do prefer the barrel to be 4” and tapered but any of them are great!

A few are below.

I love "Show & Tell" - It really brings together a kindred spirit for those of us who appreciate S&W revolvers.

Here's my Mar '79 25-2 I've had for a year or so. Haven't shot it a lot. But I did shoot up the auto rim ammo that came with the trade so I know how well it can group. I bought five 5-packs of RIMZ moon clips and wasn't exactly thrilled I had to trim them. Oh well, they were cheap enough I guess. But I'm thrilled to have the revolver.

You have a beautiful revolver EricR. Upon receipt, I plan to park mine in the rack next to my Model of 1950, Pre-Model 26. I thing they will get a long well together, or will at least look good next to each other.

Very nice 25-2 indeed Eric!

Did you get the RIMZ clips labeled specifically for the 25-2? They do list different ones for older vs. new guns. Mine worked flawlessly in my pre 25-2 with absolutely no trinmming or anything.
