Default 64-3 (?) Cylinder Question

I was given a cylinder/extractor /yoke assembly purported to be from a model 64-3. Looking at the yoke, i see "F8" stamped. Under that is"60" which is over-stamped with "22343". Normally, I'd take the "60" to be the model number, but this is clearly a 6 shot cylinder and the extractor rod is what appears to be a standard K frame length and clearly will not fit in my model 60. Also, I would normally assume the stamped number to be the serial number, but that seems an awfully low number for a 64-3. Additionally, the cylinder itself is about 1/16" shorter than the cylinder in my 64-8. My 64-3 is at S&W for rehab and therapy. (An earlier post explains why.)

What do I actually have?

Assembly numbers. The model number will have MOD above or in front of it. Just 60 is not a model number. The 60 will accept 5 rounds and a 64 will hold 6.

I know the model 60 has only 5 shots. I counted the holes on mine to make sure. Normally (my experience only) the model number is on the yoke. This yoke doesn't have a model number. Again, there is an approximate 1/16" difference between the length of the cylinder in my 16-8 and this cylinder. Did Smith increase the cylinder length in the model 64 at some point by 1/16"? I there a way to tell What model this is from?

Posting a photo and an exact cylinder length would help.

As you probably noted on yours, in the era of the model 64-3 the model number would be stamped on the frame area just underneath the rear of the barrel called the yoke cutout; it would not usually be stamped on the yoke itself. The number 60 there is a coincidence for the reason you noted, six charge holes.
