New to me 25-2 45acp
So yesterday was like XMAS. Here is my new 25-2. It has been fired, but I doubt more than a couple cylinders full. For a change, the presentation case is like 95%. Got the original outside cardboard wrapper too. I wish the grips were darker, but I am getting used to them.

Very nice! Do you think the smooth presentation stocks came on it from the factory? Here's one I acquired at the Symposium in June; also with the presentation case, and stocks that also take a little getting used to. A friend and fellow Forum member just added a pre-25 to his collection; don't see those often and I'd love to have one.

Jeff, that is a nice looking piece! Yes I think they are stock. I do not know if there was any rhyme or reasoning to smooth vs checkered. But if there is, hopefully somebody with the answer will read this and explain it

I think lighter hued stocks on a blued revolver are very pleasing to the eye. The minute you don't, I would be happy to send you a set of my darkest black Pachs in trade for your "ugly" wood stocks!

Got mine several years back for about $400 in trade. (I couldn't make the deal fast enough!) Box liner not pristine but "OK". I have given some thought to repairing the crack, but haven't done anything with it yet. Revolver fired very little.
I wonder how the smooth stocks would be listed code wise on the cardboard box if original from the factory? (Just curious, did the factory cardboard wrapper have any markings or info similar to a two-piece factory carboard box's end label?)
Please tell me you aren't going to have to eat beans and ramen with all these purchases you have of late!

Very nice looking gun you just got, Pete. I picked one up last year at a gun show that has the presentation grips. I wondered if they came on it, so I lettered it, and sure enough, they are probably from the factory. Here is my post:

Interesting. I do not believe that I will letter it, but I do believe that they are factory smooth, and OEM. I have period correct excellent rosewood targets that I bought new around 75. They are on a model 15 meant to duplicate my carry gun in my constable days. I think I may just try swapping them

A most excellent catch there, Pete. It makes me want for my 2 week hitch here at the rig to go by faster so I can get mine.

Have not made it to noodles yet, but I am getting used to Spam. I will check cardboard box and let you know.

For some reason I find more peace of mind saving up several thousand dollars and then buying several items versus buying 1 just as I can afford it and then being broke afterwards!
Oh well, works better for me.
Spam is great if fried crispy on at least one side. Ramen noodles are better if you can spring for a small can of chicken or tuna and a spoonful of mayo.
Yes, more info on any markings on the factory cardboard box sleeve/box. I am assuming S&W marked something on the package to indicate just how it left the factory. (?)

Mine came in the original blue box with paper work sight tool cleaning kit and 3 rd moon clips. I have the same light wood checkered 2x4size stocks but switched to hogue’s now pacs presentation grips.
I obtained from the original owners son selling it for Dad who actual used it in competition shoots. The action is smooth and SA pull is apprx 1.5 lbs!

Pete,
Great catch! You know I like an ACP revolver. I don’t have a solo shot of my 25-2 but it is a good shooter. I use full moon clips from Ranch Products. I should try RIMZ but, they are expensive and I have several hundred of the metal ones.

My favorite revolver
I looked for a long time to find a 25-2. They were either shot out, or the owner wanted a fortune. I didn't get a presentation case, or tools, but finally found one in great condition. Good luck with yours. Double tap has 45 Auto Rim ammo, if you don't want to fool with moon clips, or poke out the ACP cases with a chop stick.

No Kevin, I have not taken it to the range yet, and while I would like to, we have some COVID restrictions at the moment. I have even given some thought to selling it

Wow, a cold chill just enveloped my entire soul.
Do you have other ACP revolvers? Is this a duplicate?
Yes, we were under house arrest also. I was without work from 14 March through 13 May. Not going to be buying much this year.

Narragansett,
That is a great acquisition especially with the case and all the other goodies. I bought a 25-2 many years ago in the case and it had smooth target stocks on it also. I never gave it much thought but figured the stocks were added on later. After reading the posts in this thread, maybe it came from the factory like that.

I think it is a question of target stocks vs. smooth presentation stocks. Maybe?

I seem to recall my 25-2 came (second hand) with smooth presentation stocks on it. My 25-5 with checkered targets.
