Default New aquisition: Model 66 no dash/Easy come, Easy go!

I picked up a 66 no dash, pinned and recessed. Good shape overall, functions normally. Tight lock up. Has Pachmayr grips and missing the orange sight insert. $325!!!!!! Will post pics later. Where can I get a replacement sight insert? Do the inserts come in different colors? What's it worth?

I messaged the seller to stop by and collect his cash. He called and said that he changed his mind and decided that he couldn't part with it. His son was hoping to inherit it one day. He had been on the fence about selling it anyway. I sold him a nearly new Bianchi molded nylon holster to go with it. Hopefully he will take the Pachmayr Gripper Grips that I ordered for it l.

Very nice pick up! Congratulations.
You can buy insert kits from Brownell’s or other suppliers. They are actuall poured into the sight with a form on either side of the ramp.
You can also take it to just about any competent gunsmith and have it done. Several colors are available but it most likely came with an orange insert.
Good luck and enjoy your 66.

You did good! That will make a fine shooter. I would have paid that.
I was admiring one earlier today at the range.
Congrats.

Looks like you did good.

I'm down to only one K-frame, this 6" 66-1.
Its one of my two favorite guns to shoot.

Good find, otis24. Around here, that would have been a screaming good deal. As has been mentioned, sight insert kits are readily and cheaply available, or you could go to just about any revolver smith should be able to do it for you at a reasonable price.

As for the grips, since it probably shipped with un-numbered target style grips. Find a set in the “proper” configuration for the period and you’ll be good. IIRC, they were football shaped relieved at that point; although I wouldn’t be surprised to have seen the full cutout for speedloader clearance.

Otis, also MidwayUSA has them. Larry Potterfield has a youtube video how to replace it.

Here's a link to Larry's video:

I got the Castin' Craft resin, yellow and red pigment and release agent somewhere on line (don't remember exactly where, maybe Blick).
If I recall correctly, the kits were kinda pricey.
