Barrel I.D. and pinned/non pinned compatibility?
Hi there. While I wait for my trade in 10-6 to arrive at my FFl, I found a 2in .38spec barrel in my parts box. I can't remember when i picked it up but i believe it's for a non pinned K frame. Can I use a non pinned barrel on a 10-6?
Here are some measurements from the barrel.
Diameter of threads is .536
Throat diameter is .498
Diameter at the flat on the bottom of the throat is .474
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
The threads match and the trough across the threads that the pin passes through can be added with a file.

The barrel will fit and there is no need to install the barrel pin for functional reasons.
However, the frame of the bull barrel model 10-6 is contoured differently than the standard or tapered barrel model of the same era (this barrel likely came from a later model 10-7). You may not care how it looks if it works.

if the barrel you are replacing is longer than 2”, you will need a new extractor today to accommodate the shorter barrel.

I'm pretty sure I have a short extractor rod somewhere.

If you just want it to look like it's pinned you can add two half pins one on each side and really not effect the performance in any way.

Welcome to the Forum
You will need the shorter ejector rod, center pin and spring . . . if you are swapping out on a revolver with a longer barrel
And as already mentioned, you might not have a smooth looking match where it mates up against the frame

If you do want to pin it, it's a simple matter to just drill through from both sides for the pin, once you make sure that the sight is exactly vertical.
