I just stumbled across another nice one today. It was put out while I was in one of my LGS. It's a model 64-3 in 4" heavy barrel. I have been looking for years for an older model 64 from the square butt pre-mim era, but after 20 years of collecting S&Ws, I have never seen one locally until today. I've been making do with a 64-8 bought used as a stand-in. I see model 10s here and there, but for whatever reason, just don't see 64s. I guess folks hang on to them. This one was very clean and the only condition issue was that it was wearing Hogue rubber finger groove stocks. As an extra bonus, it has the pinned barrel. I could not refuse when it was offered to me for $315 +tax. Serial number is 7D28xxx, dating it to 1981. The action is incredibly smooth! They really knew how to fit them in those days. It didn't come with a box, but I've had a box for a 64-3 laying around for years given to me by an FFL friend with a bunch of boxes when he cleaned out his closet. Is there a better reason to buy a gun than having a box and needing the gun to put in it? After getting it home, I added a set of period correct PC magnas. I was stunned when I dug out the 64-3 box I had and found the serial number on the end label was also in the 7D28xxx range! It turned out to be only 86 away from my gun! I guess some things are meant to be!

Congrats i went to a local gun show sunday looking for a 64 had to SETTLE for a 4 inch 28 ‼️‼️‼️

I also picked up a 64-3 in simular condition in my local area. One of the best point of aim K frames I own, love stainless for the ease of removing light handling marks. Enjoy.

I bought a used 64 more than twenty-five years ago. I only shoot cast bullets in it. It's probably as accurate or maybe more accurate than the Model 14 I bought new forty or so years ago and it's supposed to be a target revolver.

Nice revolver! I have a 65-2 with those sights that drops em right on target....they got something right!!!!
