An Old Photo
I was looking through some old photos and found this one I posted over fifteen years ago. I thought it might be of interest today. Click on the photo for a better look.

The start of a long road. Went to see Dirty Hairy in high school, got me interested in S&Ws and hand gun shooting. Thanks Clint.

Hard to think about shooting a 44 mag single handed with your elbow bent that much and the pistol so close to your face. Dirty Harry was the one who caused me to purchase my first Model 29. Thanks for sharing.

I wonder how many 44 Mags Clint sold for S&W. It is beyond debate that the release of Dirty Harry and its sequels had a huge effect on the popularity of the Model 29, and that a lot of guys who would otherwise never thought of owning "the most powerful handgun in the World" all of a sudden just had to have one. I know I felt some of that pressure myself, even though I was a budding Bullseye shooter at the time.

I think Eastwood could have owned S&W for the promotion of that movie, even though He had nothing to do with producing ar directing. I bought a 29 before DH came out and traded it after for 4 Krugerrands, value at that time around $100. Think I paid $185 for it. Not so anymore, but I do have the Krugerrands.

It was certainly an influence on my purchase - which was made in the late 70's, still at the height of Model 29 price gouging.
I lived in NE PA at the time and there was a store in Eynon, PA called Sugarman's Eynon Drug. They didn't gouge, in fact they discounted off MSRP at the time other dealers were charging a 100% additional mark-up. The only thing was you had to wait. You put your name on a list and they would call you when the gun you wanted was available. I bought both a 25-2 and a 29-2 there, about 6 months apart. I paid $240 for the 25-2 and 260 for the 29-2 and still have both of them today.
Here's my 29-2...
Adios,
Pizza Bob
