Bought a set, this is the set that came without the Bowie knife. It had the original order slip in the box. Seattle Hardware Co., 501-27 FIRST AVE. South, BOX 3846 Terminal Station, Seattle Wash. 98124, Phone MA2-7070 Area code 206 The order was written Jan. 23, 1973 for 2 ea. 50104 S & W Commemorative's. The slip also states PAY ON ARRIVAL and FFL 92414 Also has the salesman's no. 444 Anyway I now have one of those sets with the original case, original box with label and all the paperwork and unopened tools. Everything is like new, 19-3 has not been fired per the seller. Does anyone here have the other one that was ordered or anymore info to add?


Added a TR Bowie and presentation box to try and make a complete set. Did not get the blue S & W box for the bowie. Also added Silver & Bronze TR commemoratives.

I don't own any commemoratives, but if I came across one of those Texas Ranger Model 19s I'd probably buy my first!

Wow, excellent example, appreciate seeing how mine may have shipped. Can't say it enough-as nice as it looks, it shoots even better!

I certainly understand not shooting a pristine example with all the accessories, I guess that's what makes mine even more fun to own.

I have a set with the knife, it was a safe queen but I bought mine as a shooter.

My recommendation is to shoot it and enjoy it. They are neat, but I don't see them gaining a lot of value. If you use any online inflation calculator, they haven't even stayed up with inflation. The box sets (with the knife) should be $1400-1500 right now just to break even if you bought it in 1973.

Enjoy it and shoot that sucker!

Your revolver came from a good home. Seattle Hardware was the last of its kind. There will never be another like it. The owner had about everything anyone needed in hardware, and that was a very big tent. He would have to find what was needed, as no one else could. He would disappear upstairs, and return with what was needed, or explain why it was not needed, or what could be used in its place.
I used to walk several blocks from my office to the store at lunchtime. This was in the early 1970's. There were a lot of interesting places downtown like that at time. Marine supply, leather craft, electronic supply. No more, just boutiques. Happy day when I moved out of the downtown! Now just drug addicts living on the sidewalks.

Thanks for your very interesting post. The dealer I bought it from told me the seller is the son of the owner of Seattle Hardware at the time the revolver was ordered. Seems it was a well stocked company. I'm almost 79 and seen many changes, some good and some bad.

Oh well, mine is TR555 so not even close. I only bought it because 5 is one of my lucky numbers. (I now have a bunch of guns with multiple 5's in the serial number)

Like I needed another excuse to buy S&W's.
