Default My first Model 19-3 with a 6" barrel

Bill Jordan got it right when he convinced S&W to make the M19 Combat Masterpiece. Of many .357's I own including L-frames. Blackhawks, Security Sixes, and Pythons, the M19 to me is still the perfect combination of balance, weight, size, and beauty. Between the wife and I we have two 19-3's and one 19-5, all with 4" barrels, which seems to be the most common version. Saturday I was at an auction and missed out on a gorgeous M27-2 with a 2-1/2" or 3" barrel that went for over a grand, but bought this mint condition 19-3 with a 6" barrel for a bit over half of that. The 2K534x serial makes it a 1970 gun I believe. I brought it home, took of the grips, removed the cylinder/crane and cleaned it up although it didn't even need it. I can find no evidence that the gun was ever fired. Not a trace of residue in the barrel, in the chambers, behind the star, nothing. Fear not my friends, as this house has no use for safe queens and it will be shot tomorrow. Probably the first time I've had a 50 year old virgin!

The .357 Combat Magnum is one of my favorite S&Ws. Enjoy shooting it.

That’s really nice! Congratulations on finding that one.

The Combat Magnum is about as close to a perfect general-use revolver as one can get, but you know that since you already have a few.

Model 19's are great revolvers and I have longed for one with a 6 inch barrel, just never could find one that had a reasonable price tag.

I have a 4” -3, but would love to add a 6” to the foray.

Another 6" M19 with Patridge front sight I would have bought just to own the GRIPS, who needs the gun? You bought at the right time at the right price -- Well DONE!

You see? We all look at things differently.

To me, I just don't have a use for a 6" Combat Magnum. All of mine have either the 2 1/2" or 4" barrel. Perfect for serious LE or personal defense use (two or four legged critters).

If I want to use a .357 Magnum with the 6" barrel, my several Highway Patrolman units are available, which do better with heavy loads. If I want to settle down to some serious target work, I have an array of K-38 Masterpiece revolvers. No one of them really ever gets much work, because they have to compete with each other for range time.

I had a 6" Combat Magnum once, years ago. Sold it off and can't see any reason to replace it.

That 19 was made to shoot tiny groups. Looking forward to hearing how she shoots.

Very nice.

I sold my LNIB 1967 19-2 6" a few months ago. Never did shoot it.
I also sold my 1963 19-2 4". For some reason I didn't really care for shooting it.

I have a 6" 66-1 that I love to shoot.

It might be a tad usual in that it has a target hammer but standard trigger. Every one that I've seen that had not been altered had both or neither.

Hi guys. I have almost the same gun. Looks like it’s a 1975 model but not sure. Would anyone be able to give a guess on how much it would be worth? I’m getting offers that swing all over the place and don’t want to just give it away. Thanks!
