Default S&W Model 14-4

Hello, I also picked up this 14-4 from my LGS today. I can’t find a blemish on it except for a faint cylinder drag mark which I don’t consider a flaw. Could I get help with the year this was made please? The serial number is 83K6XXX. Thank you.

Looks identical to my 14-3. How’s the double action on it as mine wasn’t very good and have it getting a go over from a smith.

I am very partial to the 14-4. It was my first "vintage" S&W purchase.

In honor of it, I am "uprighting" the photos of your beauty:

Default 14’s

Model 14 is a great revolver for a great cartridge,
These 14 are some of the most accurate revolvers I
Own. The 36’s just there for looks.

Carrier, this gun’s double action is smooth, no stacking. The only thing I’ve found is the cylinder was stiff to rotate. I’ve oiled it a bit and it’s far better.

357magster...The -14 has been on my list for some time..ever since I saw one in my LGS and I did research on it. The one in my LGS had a huge scratch (deliberate??) down the length of the barrel. Couldn’t buy that one, glad I found this one. And thanks for reposting my pictures...how did you do that by the way? Thank you

Mine was awesome in single action but felt like it was full of gravel in double action. It was pretty much a new revolver that had been shot very little and sat in the guy I bought it from safe for years.

Cleaned it up and was better but not where it should be. Hoping to get it back in a couple weeks to see if it will be like my 28 is.
It is a very accurate revolver though when shooting single action.
