Default Ahrends refinish part III (conclusion)

Well they're done. After about 5 or 6 coats of tung oil, I let it cure then buffed it with fine bronze wool and Renaissance wax. Two coats of wax and here they are



And back on the shiny long one



In hindsight, I wish I had gone just a shade browner, but compared to the original light pink



I think they look a lot better now. Plus, the tung oil/wax will only get better the more I handle it.

Finally here's a shot of the 27-2 with my K22. It wears the same grips in American walnut, which I ordered unfinished and did the same tung oil finish on.

Really nice job! Wish I had the aptitude and skills to put a finish like yours on my own stocks. You can be very proud of your craftsmanship.

Good job Patrick! IMHO, that's the way the sheen should be on all gun wood. Some soft shine, but no noticeable buildup or plastic coated look.

Now I'm just waiting for all this Coronavirus garbage to end so I can go to the range and enjoy them.
