Model 19 Snub Prices
I’m interested in adding a Model 19 2 1/2” (thru -4) to my collection. I own a 19-3 6”, love the size and 357 caliber, but really like the feel and carry of a snub.
Current asking prices online seem to run in the high 7’s, with the decent ones asking $800-1100 or more.
My question: Is this be normal for a Model 19 Snub Nose...or has the recent craziness driven pricing up?

No, that is pretty normal. The pre-lock snubs have been starting around 650-700 and up over a grand for the more desirable configurations. Just wait until you start trying to buy anything 3"

Those prices are very typical for a P&R model 19 snub. Some would agree in fact, that $700-$800 for a decent 2 1/2" model 19 would be a bargain by today's standards. I've seen complete package model 19 snubs with tools, box, and papers go for $1,300+. You won't regret picking up a snub sibling for your 6" model 19. Good luck on your quest.

Danny,
You and I must think alike. I, too, would love to have a blued P&R snub model 19. I have a nickel plated model 27-2 and pre-model 10 snubs, so the shiny ones are taken care of. Now, I wish for a really nice blued one!

So, you want one like this? Don't blame you. They are cool!
Or maybe you like ivory? I do.
Here's the first one again, with his shiny 4" brother-in-law.
And a pair of 4 inchers . . .
Okay, so I like the Combat Magnum.
And, BTW, all of them shown here are Model 19-3.

That figures. Another one I let get away like a fool. Think they were around $180 new back in 77-78.

Model 19-4, 2-1/2", in Nickel. The barrel was swapped out at the factory for the original 6-inch, (that's why it is a square butt snubby) and the stocks are carved mother of pearl, which I added. I keep the originals put away. But, with the original stocks, I paid $750 a while back to a stand-up member from Iowa, Robert. The pearls cost more than the gun, but they are magnificent, and one of a kind.

So do I Jack, that Blue 19 Snub of yours is perfect, IMHO all snubs look good, I own quite a few, but the 19 K-Frame Snub just looks great, perfect size, perfect caliber.
That’s some fine looking revolvers you got there, and a sweet collection of -3’s, nice!

The numbers you quoted would be a bit low for the People's Republic of California.

Take heart! I just ran the numbers on an inflation calculator. What cost $180 in 1977 is $768.35 today. So it only hurts as much to buy it now as it did then.

Sorry for the poor picture, it’s actually very nice.

In my past life I carried a Model 19 2 1/2 inch. Therefore they are some favorites today. Here is a nickel 19-5 and a blue 19-3. Neither came with numbered grips, so I dressed them up with Culina Combats. Enjoy....

Interestingly, this morning I saw a Model 19 2 1/2" (I think a -4) on a popular auction site. It was advertized as a RARE one because it is factory nickel. Where do these guys get this stuff?

I bought this 19-3 from a member here about 6 months ago ANIB 750, I'm certainly good with that price.

I recently "stole" a 19-3 w/a 2-1/2" barrel LNIB for $550.
I suspect the good price had something to do with the fact I also purchased a factory engraved PPK/S from the dealer at the same time which had been collecting dust in the case for some time.

Howdy, Senior Chief!!
Snubby K frames at 2" or 2.5" are just some of the best guns in the world for a host of reasons. So good ones will demand respect in dollars!
I recently parted with a number of them for various reasons, mostly because of water stains from my 2018 fire. Two of those were 2.5" Model 19s. I hated doing it but I had to move on.....
Be well, shipmate!

$550 with Combats!!! A ‘good price’ doesn’t begin to describe that level of theft, in your Commonwealth probably at least a Felony?
After your trial maybe I can get yours at the auction... ;-)

I have also been waiting for a nice 19-4 2 1/2" to come up for sale. Unfortunately for me, I can only buy from another private party here in CA. Makes it way more difficult than just walking into a pawn shop and finding a score. They say patience is a virtue... I guess.

I've had a 6'' model 19 for about 30 years. About 4 years ago I decided to add a -3 snubby to my collection. I actually like to shoot it more than my 6" and I shoot that one frequently. I remember paying about $700 for it with all trimmings. I bought it from someone on this forum who shall remain anonymous and he can't have it back. Prices have gone up since I purchased mine.
