Default Grandfather’s Revolver

My Grandfather was a Deputy Sheriff in the 1940’s thru early 1960. I have recently been gifted from an Aunt, his S&W Nickel Model 10, with what looks to be a 2 to 2.5 inch barrel. Not sure how much he actually shot it, but has normal wear from being carried in the holster that I was given with it in. Wish that someone in our Family had passed a Confederate Rifle or Calvary Sabre down to me. I absolutely treasure these Family Heirlooms.

Default Leave As is?

Many of us now feel that guns showing use such as holster wear lends character and a bit of provinence to the gun and therefore, they should not be refinished. That this was once your grandfather's gun, which he carried on duty, I'd repair mechanical defects if any but I would leave the cosmetics untouched.

Does it look like one of these? The front one is a 10-5 and dates to 1967. The other two date to 1957 and 1952. Only the front gun is actually marked "Mod 10". S&W didn't start marking Mod #'s until 57-58.
