Default Wanted 2020 Guns - Covid-19 - Have your plans changed

A thread was started at the end of 2019 asking forum members to post what guns they were looking for in 2020. Since the Covid-19 crisis started, have any of your plans changed?

What guns are you looking for in 2020?

I'm still waiting to pick up a Model 10-5 and 67-1 that I'd agreed to buy earlier in the year (had been waiting on my Permit to Acquire Paperwork to come back from the Police Firearms Registry).

All the ranges in my state are shutdown however hunting (and fishing) is still permitted as long as you are socially distancing. I was planning to purchase a Model 14 this year to shoot ISSF Centrefire but I may put this on-hand.

My plans have not changed. I'm not really looking to buy any gun in particular as I don't need anything. Of course I understand that the want is usually more powerful than the need, so we'll see what happens.

I was wanting a 4 inch highway patrolman and I lucked out and got one recently! Had to trade for it and a 6 inch to get the deal. It's a 1966 gun with some old made in italy grips and in such great condition doesn't even look carried and barely a turn ring! My plans havent changed I'm still waiting on the other gun from copper custom. My first S&W revolver was a 64-3 and they got a batch of police trade ins of that exact dash. Getting one for nostalgia to keep since my original 64 was sold before I transferred to Hawaii in the service.

Only targets of opportunity....................

Not a S&W..... not even a handgun...... but scored a 2008 build, "as new in box" CZ 452 FS/mannlicher in .22 magnum last week. The CZ rimfire rifles are the best bang for the buck going and beautiful classic rifles.

The .22 magnum is a great mid-size varmint gun for Penn's Woods... groundhogs and Coyotes.

Hell, I don’t even know for sure if my FFL is open. So, I’ve been ignoring GunBroker.

I will say this ... Because of that, my bank account doesn’t seem to be trembling in fear right now because something shiny might catch my eye. LOL

I've had an itch for a seven shot Model 686 for a while. This 686-4 Plus came up locally about three weeks ago, just before things went nuts.

Now is not the time to be buying. Hold your horses and see how this beer virus pans out. There will probably be a lot of gun and related items for sale at reduced prices later this year. That would be the time to buy, IMHO.

I put a 27-9 on layaway just before this started. I guess it’ll still be there. I’m to old to stand in line to get in (10 person limit).

I have been in search of good priced Sig P365. Bought one yesterday $439 plus the governors tax. Now I am in search of a really beat up rusty lever action rifle for my next Cerakote project. Got tired of running all over the place finding and then loosing Cerakote providers. My last AR lower cost $100 to Cerakote and I had to make two 30 mile round tripes. So I bought the necessary stuff and recently coated three parts. Rewarding and fun to do while shut in.

My plans haven't changed at all
I seriously doubt that will ever buy another gun.
I m more than happy with the ones I have.
I will however continue buying ammo.

I bought several S&W's from an estate last month, so I think my 2020 buying is done. However I may be selling a few this year. Will be 80 in 2 weeks. Might start to winnow the collection.

The 6" Model 586 (ND) I picked up last month... before the real virus craziness got going... was supposed to be it for the foreseeable future. I am extremely pleased with it and it really did cap off my pre-IL S&W revolver collection in a way that I am not left seeking anything right now. A really clean 4" pre-IL Model 19 might be nice someday, but not at today's asking prices.

Funny thing though: I tend to react badly to moonbat state government shutting off my Constitutional rights... just as they are doing here in MA as we speak. So I am back to thinking about what will be my next acquisition. Unfortunately, it can't be a new Python because those aren't legal for sale here yet (if ever).

One idea: a large volume MA shop had the rosewood version Sig P938 recently at a very attractive price. Once that shop reopens, I'm going to see if they are still selling them at that same price. If so, I think I'll snag one.

Smile beretta m9A3 FS

I am a beretta 92 fan. I have the original Beretta that won the trials in 1986, the beretta 92SB, I also have an Italian 92FS and a 92FS Inox USA made. The Inox was a LEO trade in. I had to put beretta made adjustable sights on that one because the sights had been totally bashed in by some ham fisted LEO. I have been recently intrigued by the updated M9A3 black with the safety/decocker. Before I went, I called on the phone and Unfortunately, all they had here in the LGS were the decocker model. Since I am in love with the grips on my berettas, I dont know if I would like the vertec grips. (I like the smooth plastic ones. I bought some cocobolo wooden grips but they were too coarse for me). Prices are hovering around $800-$1000, but I would have to hold one to see if I like it. The odds of that happening right now are nil to none. We will see. Ray,m

Save up while the virus is abroad and get a Wilson Combat or Langdon LTT Beretta.......nicely tricked out for $1100-1300.

Bought myself a Wilson Combat Centurion (serial # birth month & year) as a retirement gift to myself....... NICE!!!!!

My buying plans haven't changed. I already have the guns I need for SD and such. I have plenty of ammo too. Pity the fool who waited for an emergency to "stock up".

The local range is offering a free one hour familiarization course to any and all first time gun buyers.

As in the last irrational run on firearms and ammo, vintage revolvers will show up in dealer's display cases pretty soon. I took advantage of that the last time and got a 99% Model 36 no dash for $339.

I wanted to get a Chiappa Rak-22 to contrast with my 15-22s, a Franchi Affinity 3 silver receiver 12G, a .357 lever gun, and a Hi-Point 4595TS, but all pland on hold to see how we come out of this crisis. Have plenty of other guns and ammo, no nonsegment is really lacking at this time.

Pretty much the same as every year: cheap Registered Magnums.

Don't really have a gun budget as such any more, so the only thing I can buy is things which are outrageous deals.

Covid hasn't affected it at all.

Default Wanted Dead or Alive

Lost interest in the Reintroduced Shootable Colt
Python 357Rem Mag. Not on my list anymore.

Still keeping an eye out for a S&W 657 41Rem Mag
in Mountain Gun or Classic model, hopefully as
close to New in the Box as possible.

The Best to you, and be Safe out there. Wear a Mask,
Wash Hands often, and have Situational Awareness to
what is going on around you.

Was lucky enough to get a new GP100 the week before everything shut down last month. It was an impulse purchase, and I'm glad I got it. Needed a new .357. Otherwise, when I get the stimulus check, I'm buying reloading supplies, if there are any to be had.

I'm trying to put the brakes on gun buying and even thin the herd a little at this point... I bought out my brothers' share of the family home from the estate and am trying to get my finances into a little more healthy state. This was my status before the Kung Flu erupted, and really nothing has changed except all of these once-in-a-lifetime deals keep popping up to test my resolve.

My long term want list include; first, one more custom 32 (pre-War Kit gun on 32 RP I-frame... modern J-frame adjustable sights and custom Target style grips. Next, a two tone 2nd Gen auto... a Model 639 with blued upper from a 439/539, early, without the tail fins around the sights. Finally, either a restoration on my Model 29-2, perhaps including returning its current 8 3/8" to a 4" barrel or a build of a Model 28 conversion to 44 Spl with 6" barrel. I'm sure if I live long enough to complete these, some other projects might come along, but those are the current ones.

Yes, mine have changed. My entire income is from an Airbnb condo in downtown Seattle, and the summer is when I make the money to last me through the lean winter months. The SBA stuff from the $2 Trillion package is not doing dink for sole proprietors with no employees. We are basically having to hope we can get a low interest loan. But thanks for that $1,200 we might get - that's going to go a long ways.

So...I decided my 'keeper' out of 13 hand-guns is a Sig P320 9mm. I ordered a .357 sig slide/barrel so that I have two guns in one. I am also going to keep my 1938/39 S&W .22/32, which is just too cool to ever let go of, and is great for squirrels and rabbits. Between the Sig and the .22 I should be able to defend myself and hunt for anything I need.

So for 2020 the plans have changed from maybe 5-6 guns to -11 guns. But things are great. We are healthy and eating very well. No complaints here, just dealing with the new reality.

It's weird, and perhaps I have lost my mind, but I've never been so emotionally stable. I think it's knowing that no one can come closer than six feet.

No, if I ran across one of the guns on my list I’d still buy it. The problem is that the current mess limits the odd’s of my running across anything. Normally I would haunt a half dozen shops, giving me a good chance of running across something. Visiting a gun shop now is such a hassle I can’t be bothered, so I’m not likely to run across anything.

Right as this mess was starting I bought a brand new Colt Gunsite Pistol and over 5,000 rounds of assorted ammunition. That was a pretty good hit financially so it’s probably just as well that I am avoiding temptation for a while.

Still getting a mossberg mini bantam 410. Hey that's all my 7 year old wants on his 8th birthday. Then 10 more acres came available on my south side. I am sure I will still end up with one or two of something.

Also was looking to get a P365. Recently found an NRA edition. Bought 6 extra mags and a holster so I’m set for the year.

At this point, I'm not really in need of anything, but I do look for things I might just want (bucket list guns).

However, my plans have changed from maybe finding one of those bucket list guns to just getting out and actually shooting the guns I own!! For those of us living in the suburbs and cities, that means clubs and public ranges. Even though the two I belong to are technically open, I'm not going there.

Both my clubs have closed down all group activities (clay sports, leagues, etc.) The rifle and pistol ranges are open if you just want to go shoot yourself, but I just don't view playing with my toys as essential. I'm basically staying home, going out once a week to get groceries, and that's it.

My plans haven't changed - A Henry Big Boy in 357 magnum to compliment my model 19 Carry Comp. The only difference is my Mini14 sold in the frenzy and now I have the funds.

I've been in the sell mode since I retired but just before all this craziness started I managed to come up with a Sig P220 Equinox and 1600 rounds of 45 a.c.p. Couldn't pass the deal up. I did manage to sell three old Mausers a week later so I came out way ahead.

Been spending more time on Gunbroker since I'm working from home. Trying to focus on C&R stuff to avoid having things shipped to an FFL. Though over the weekend, I managed to snag a 686 for $457 shipped. Couldn't pass that up.

No- the only new guns I plan on purchasing is a Savage LRPV .223 and since it isn’t it isn’t a handgun or an AR they’re available. The used guns I’m always on the hunt for are scarce enough that they’re always hard to find (Type 2 Belgian FAL, S&W 1st Model .455, Ruger Tri-colors, etc)

Wants:

Ruger SR22 pistol.
Rossi 357 lever action.
20 ga single shot, used would be fine.

But I'm holding out to see if any deals come up.

Which is the best anti-virus caliber?

Seriously, I'm pretty well set up for self-defense. As far as guns I want just because I want them, that is more driven by happening upon the right gun at the right price.

I bought a 1965 S&W M58 .41 Magnum SFPD gun a couple weeks ago and need to find some ammo. Also looking at an M&P 2.0 compact 9m/m and I see Glock Gen 4 .40 police trade in guns for under $300 that are tempting but I never get too excited about plastic guns.

I'm lucky so far, I need nothing. So no change to buying plans, except for the better. May 15th was the date for the Colorado Collector's Gun Show. I have a large slush fund for it and it has been re-scheduled for August, that should only help my slush fund. If we don't all die I am ridiculously close to my CMP 1911 RGN coming up, so that is a fixed goal. My targets of opportunity for the show and year are; my first Chiefs Special and my second USGI M1 carbine. I have nothing to complain about and much to look forward to. Wishing you all a good future.

If I had a dollar for every time I said I was done buying guns, I could afford my next impulse buy.

I was in communications w/ 2 different parties to trade firearms. One is a Charter Arms Bulldog 44sp, the other is a Ruger Super Redhawk 44mag. I'm hopping once this damn virus calms down we can proceed with our verbal agreements to trade.

I’ll probably just be satisfied with what I have right now. I added two rifles and a pistol in January and have a safe full of rifles and shotguns and another safe full of handguns. Got plenty of ammo, more than 10,000 rounds of 22 plus thousands of rounds of e erything els I and my wife shoot. I reload and have a good stockpile of powder, primers and bullets.

I’ve been replacing some of the boring grips that came on some of my handguns with really nice wood and stag do I may continue upgrading grips.

Tho only handgun that remotely interests me is the new Python. I had a 6” for decades and sold it when folks felt they were worth 5 times what I paid for it. I’d really have to handle one of the new ones and then think hard about whether I really want one. It’s really a less than 50/50 chance I’d buy.

I used to collect military firearms from the Indian wars up through WWII in both US and foreign arms. I’ve had about everything that’s anything and bought them before anyone gave them a second look. So I’ve been there and done it and turned them for some good money a few years ago and just not interested in going back and paying insane prices.

I’m just content I guess with what I have and want to shoot them more. Really what I should do is buy a nice piece of property and build a new house where I can shoot from my back deck. That would make me happy.

No, my plans haven't changed.

My wife kinda wants a Sig365. I kinda want a stainless CA Bulldog 44 as they're so light for a 44. I have interest in a pistol caliber carbine but I've yet to find one that really does it for me. I'd also kinda like a newer, more modern short barreled 12 gauge but I don't want to go too tacticool with it. My old S&W riot gun is still OK, I'd just like something a bit more advanced, probably a Mossberg but I only carried Remington or High Standard on the job. I look longingly at commander size 1911s. I have full size and officer's model type compacts. I no longer have any use for full size handguns I don't already have.

All of them can wait until the current frenzy is over, or longer.

I had been saving for an M28 Highway Patrolman, but not finding anything I liked at a decent price. Just before all this craziness started, I happened upon a Pre-18 K-22 for $400 and couldn’t pass it up. Decided to hang onto the remaining funds just in case. Also was on the hunt for an M1917, but that’s on hold as well. I’m still working, but my wife got furloughed. Times ain’t tight yet, but I want to be prepared.

Saw a Rossi 92 .357 stainless 16" on Gunbroker I'd been wanting.
Before hitting the 'buy it now', decided to call my LGS to see how busy they were. They had a lineup waiting out on the sidewalk, and purchasers waiting in their rigs for transfers to clear.

I am always game for a nice 3" Model 65 at a decent price.

Right now, I am interested in two handguns, as different as "chalk and cheese" while both being Rugers.

A 3" SP101 in .327 Fed mag, and
A 9mm Charger.
