Default Grail Gun found

So a friend of mine (a 1911 guy who has an appreciation for S&W whee lguns) who lives in another State, told me about an estate that was coming into a LGS in his area. All S&W wheel guns. He's picking up a 629 and a 29-2 from the batch. I asked him what else there is. He tells me it's not all out yet but he goes through some items and mentions a M58. Hold on. I need details. A few days pass as the shop was getting pricing from the executor. Last night my buddy contacts me. 1973 production. Light handling marks. It has been fired, but not a lot. SAPD marking on frame above trigger guard. Overall in much better condition than one would expect for a police service revolver. No box or anything. Wearing the correct PC Magnas. $649+shipping. Shop is holding it pending my phone call later this morning. It will be coming my way soon.

Congrats on the grail gun!

Here is one I got from an estate sale. They are great revolvers. Looks like it was purchased in 1969 and put straight in the safe.

Congrats on a fine revolver. I do not have a Model 58 "Yet". I do have an unfired Model 57 with an "S" serial number prefix.

It sounds like you are getting a good price on it. You do indeed have a "good friend".

Now for the couple of days wait.

Definitely one of my Grail guns. The others are a Colt Metropolitan Mk III, and a S&W Model 20, either 4" or 5"

I don't recall when I got mine but it was a few years ago. S256915 shipped in April of 1965. It was new then, I was 15.

I talked to the shop. They have to hold the gun for 10 days before it can be sold, so the police can run the S/N. But it is mine once the 10 days are up. Annoying but better than the situation on that other post about a 58.

Yes. We've been friends since High School, which is longer ago than I care to think about. Been through a lot together.

I started a new thread to post my grail gun in.
I jut think its better than posting it here in a M58 grail gun thread.
