This morning I got this model 19-3. It was an old duty gun. It had houges on it but i told the shop to keep them. At home i put the wood on it. I will clean it up and take it out to the range. I have been wanting a 4 Inch blued 19. here is my 1973 19-3 nickel

Looks like the former owner was right handed and had a habit of resting his hand on it as it sat in what was probably an old Border Patrol style holster. If it could only talk... Enjoy your purchase!

What I see is a Career Gun, one that this officer carried for his entire career. It saddens to seeing a gun like this being sold off like a used car. I would treat it with respect and mount a proper set of Cop Grips on it, such as the wonderful Pachmayr Gripper Pro. BTW, there is a reason why these "goodyears" were mounted on most working Cops handguns. Shoot a 357 Magnum with these grips and you'll understand why.

I have about 12 other S&W 357mags all wood grips. my model 65 has these on it. I may put targets on it. I agree it was sad the gun was very dirty. I told the retired cop at the shop who sold it to me that it was a old duty gun. This shop had 3 full cases of S&Ws.

Good choice and I'm sure that you'll enjoy it.
I carried a 19-3 for my first few years on duty. I ended up selling it to a deputy when I changed to a Model 65.
Realizing my error a few years ago, I bought another one. Should have kept the first one.
