Found a really nice little J frame
Right out of left field I found a really nice M-34-1 today. Had a fellow who wanted a bunch of reloading items and after getting them all together he asked if I would be interested in a revolver on trade. Told him I wanted to see it so he went to the safe and brought out a pretty S&W M34-1 four inch gun. He offered the gun and a 150 bucks for the reloading stuff. So I got it for a really good price. Stuff doesn't happen like that to me very often. In good condition. I didn't get away with it easily though. When I got home I was bringing stuff from the grocery store into the house and tripped off of the porch. Landed on my left side and trashed my cell phone. and my left leg...The cell phone has a replacement plan...the left leg not so much. Try to get a pic and post it later this evening. Serial is in the M1896XX range. Anyone know the ship date on it? It is seriously 95% or better condition but will probably be trade bait. Tiny little thing even if it is pretty.

I'm sorry about your leg and your phone...
But at least you didn't scratch your new gun!

Well there is that...can't hardly walk though. Getting old sucks. 10 -15 years ago I'd be strutting around by now. Not tonight!!! or tomorrow either from the way it feels. And I have a fellow brining me a Winchester 54 tomorrow in 30-30. Hope I can get outta bed tomorrow

I'm not the photographer some here are. This little gun is really clean. Oh and by taking the thing on trade I saved it a little. He gave it to me with one of those nylon holsters. They just seem to wear the blue right off a gun in short order. And I do like this better than most J frames as it is a square butt.

Congrats!
Those tiny .22s sure are neat.
Will miss seeing you at the cancelled Wyo Collectors show on Memorial Day this year.
Take care of that limb. You only get two!

Love the 34 & 63 revolvers. Great for plinking, teaching the kids and ladies how to shoot, and hikes in the wilderness.
Somehow mine came with a target hammer and trigger and the smoothest SA/DA I have ever felt on a "J" frame.
Try it and you'll probably keep it!!

I don't know what sorts of reloading gear you let go, but unless it was something really special, I'd say you got the better end of that deal.
Sounds like one of those play it cool and say, "yeah, I suppose we could do that" moments. Hard to keep from busting out laughing sometimes.

I gave him a bunch of 45 Colt brass some 44 cal Sierra bullets 4 boxes of 44 mag reloads with jacketed bullets... 2 with lead bullets and sundry mess of brass I wasn't gonna separate...oh and he needed a few 30 cal carbine rounds for the 30 carbine he'll never shoot....and 250 rounds of 9mm. He, like me, doesn't reload 9mm. I only paid 7.50 a box for the 9s. I think I did pretty good. That was the 6th 22 handgun I had gotten from him. I didn't know he even had it. I do know he has a really nice M63 4 inch cause I was with him at the gun show when he found it. I told him to buy it...Maybe one day that will come my way. The last 3 I got from him were a Ruger 22-45 NIB for 250 a H&R 999 for 150 and a High Standard Sentinel for 125. Gave the HS to my granddaughter and traded that back for the Ruger 2 weekends ago.. Trading the HS a 100 bucks and 2 boxes of old 30 Remington ammo for the Winchester 54 30-30 later today. The fellow with the 54 just bought an ol Remington Model 8 in 30 Rem...and he wants to be able to shoot it. I have about 40 boxes of 30 Remington from the old closed?? Lorton prison back east. Trading stuff is so much neater than just getting money. Heck I don't even know what the 30 Rem ammo is worth. I paid way under 5 bucks a box at the auction.

That is a nice looking little revolver.
When I bought the stuff from the Lorton prison "auction" most of the stuff was in a 4 drawer filing cabinet with a really secure combination lock on it. The only person who knew what was in it was a fellow I knew. He had loaded it up and locked it. He also had the combination. He told me what to buy. There were quite a few S&W new gun parts in there. I do know I have a couple sets of J frame targets stocks in the mess that is left..may even be some TTs THs for J frames..I sold a whole bunch of TT THs for K and N frames. They were wrapped in paper bags. I know I have a set for the N frame ..sitting here on the desk. for that bobbed hammer 29-2 Nickle gun I have. Doubt I will change it out though.

Aija says, "Hi."
We wintered well. Put together lots of jigsaw puzzles, read a lot, and didn't get sick. Hard to do better!
Take care.
