Great shooting 18. Trigger so wide it comes out both sides. One old timer said look out putting in holster, might shoot if holster is tight fit? This trigger look wider to you? I don’t holster

As indicated on the end of the box (TH and TT) your 22 Combat Masterpiece, Model 18, was manufactured with a target hammer and trigger. The trigger is 0.500 inch wide. I don't think firing of the revolver from holstering it is an issue to be concerned about.

I had to look at the target trigger on my Model 17. It appears to be the same as yours. That being said, I never experienced an accidental discharge when holstering my revolver. I suppose what the "old-timer" said might be possible, but I don't believe it probable. The area of the holster that covers the trigger/trigger guard area would need to be exceptionally tight to cause the trigger to move completely through its rearward arc when holstering the firearm.

If it were me, I would (with an empty firearm) try to duplicate the aforementioned action and determine if this is in fact a valid concern. As an aside, some older holsters have an "open" trigger guard area making this discussion a moot point. Granted, from a security standpoint an open trigger/trigger guard is not optimal. But remember, there ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

I love the TT/TH combo. if its in fact factory on a M18 I have never seen one, but I'm sure lots were ordered that way...Letter would confirm

There are two Target Triggers. The .4" one pretty much just goes to the width of the trigger guard so you could holster it safely. The .5" does go outside. All my Target Revolvers never get holstered so I prefer the .5".

Back in the 70s and 80s, when I had my gun shop, I would make a once a month trip to Springfield, drop off a box of Factory New Guns and while I was touring the plant, having lunch and stopping at the Springfield Arsenal, they would upgrade all the guns to TH, TT, TS and White Outline Rear Sight like I wanted. I could retain the old parts to provide to buyers that might want to swap back, or just pay the difference, which is what I usually did.

Try getting any of those parts from Smith now. Same problem with Numrich.
