Default Fix for Missing Washer on Factory Grips

Hi all, I wanted to share a simple fix for anyone missing a grip washer:

I recently purchased a DC trade-in Model 10 that had a missing washer on one of the grip panels. This causes that panel to slide around under normal grip pressure and wasn't ideal.

At the time of this post there wasn't a good source for just a replacement washer without the cost approaching a used set of grips.

I found that a 65 cent, 3/4 diameter, 13/64 thick nylon washer from Home Depot is an easy, non-destructive solution. The diameter is exact to the factory metal washer, which made it a simple press fit. It's a little thicker than the factory one, but still has a bit of clearance from the mainspring and rebound slide. The panel fit snugly with zero play.

Depending on the tolerances of your grip/gun, you may need to sand down the thickness a bit to clear the operating parts. I think a 1/8 thick nylon washer would be perfect, but I don't think Home Depot carries one.

Hope this helps someone out there!

Thank you! I will file that away for the future.

Thanks. This is a great solution.

I have used discs cut out of wood with a 3/4" hole saw in the past. Just about any appropriate (1/8" - 3/16") thickness hardwood works well. These may be a better choice, however, as they would withstand recoil and other stresses better, and are the exact size needed in terms of diameter.
