My 1968 Model 57 4"
A couple of years ago I stumbled across this 4" Model 57 (along with a 1951 pre-27 shown in another thread). Near mint condition with barely a turn line--I've never cocked it as a matter of fact. This gun has the most spectacular orange cch I've ever seen, and the diamond targets aren't too shabby either.
I bought both guns at the same time, from the same shop probably less than an hour after they put it in the display case.
The icing was these grips that came with the guns (more detailed pics on the pre-27 thread)
Thanks for letting me share!

Nice.
I'd like to clean it for you.
This was my 1980 6" M57. I thought it was one of my most beautiful guns and I never was going to shoot it.
Then I woke up one morning and decided to sell it.
I am going to keep my M58.

I've avoided buying any .41 ammo just so I don't give in to temptation!
Actually, now that Kenny's offered to clean it....

Those are traces of Barricade on the revolver. With the humidity and salt air here in Honolulu I bathe my guns in the stuff. This 57 has the deepest, most nearly perfect bluing of the Smiths I own. All of the vintage 57s I've seen are similar.

Wow! Thanks for sharing.
Stunningly beautiful!... the grips, too!
I had a pristine Ruger Blackhawk 10.5" bbl. SRM (.357 Maximum) for a number of years that I zip-tied the hammer to prevent me -or, anyone from turning the cylinder. A friend "gifted" me one hundred rounds of ammo for it... I eventually traded (for a S&W) but, kept the ammo(!). I just couldn't bring myself to putting a turn ring on it. Plus, I didn't have a viable range for silhouette shooting, as it was designed for.

The only thing I've never been able to resist is temptation.
My M-58 is one of my favorite shooters.

When I first got this revolver I took the grips off to clean and oil the grip frame. I got that dry, "criick" sound you get when you just know the grip screw had never been turned since leaving the factory. It was clean, but dry as a bone under the grips.
Man, i just love hearing that sound, if only once.
