Nice gun, but I never understood target sights on 2" barreled defensive handgun.

That is a beautiful Chiefs Special Target, Congratulations

If you must have only one J-frame, that is not a bad one to have

They are hard to find in that nice of a condition

I carried one of the stainless Model 60 Chiefs Special Target revolvers in an ankle rig from the day they came out until the J-Magnum was released in 1996.

But I love the look of the blue steel Model 50 Chiefs Special Target much better

To folks that are not familiar with the little 2" Smith & Wesson snubby's TRUE capabilities, it often comes as a surprise how well you can shoot once they have a good set of sights on them. Qualifying with the Chiefs Special Target was so easy, even with the long range shots the Chiefs Special Target makes you look REAL Good

If Smith & Wesson would ever release a J-Magnum Chiefs Special Target I would be carrying one in a heartbeat

Very nice!!

Still on the hunt for one of those. It's a stand-out among Chiefs.

Great gun. This one (Pre 36) was gifted to me by a dear friend on my birthday.

I love the CSTs. Here's a shot of my 36 (about 1966 vintage) and 36-1 (1975):

Default Model 50

The factory assigned the mod 50 to the mod 36 CST in 1965 but the first guns produced were 568 guns in 1973. A total of 2517 mod 36 & 50 CSTs were produced from 1955-1977.

The same reason they put a long barreled 9mm on an N frame!
Cause they could!
