M10 .357 Magnum changes its clothes
The SCSW discussed this rare caliber but does not identify a year of manufacture so I'm guessing it goes here in this Forum.
Before:
After:
The only real issue here is whether these gorgeous new stocks are weird on this old, somewhat worn revolver. Since the stocks already on there were weird, too.......who knows?

That ol' model 10 looks like it's been worked like a mule. The stags shaved a few years off though! I like it.

It's a pinned barrel, 3-screw frame so you have chosen...close to correct . Moved to Revolvers 1961-1980.
The serial number should put it sometime in the early 1970s (D700000 range).

I will retrieve if from my safe soon and report that SN information.

It was nicer when I got it but it, along with many of my guns, it survived my 2018 fire in my safe but got significantly WET. I sold or gave away at least 8 S&W revolvers because I couldn't bear to look at them from the water marks/stains. Look at the first picture with those wood stocks and you can see how much cleaner it was.
This Model 10 stayed with me because of two factors: 1st, it's a .357 Magnum and too rare to let go (although I admit some of my K frame snubbies I sold were kind of exotic themselves). 2nd, it's the only gun I ever scored 250 out of 250 on the Texas concealed handgun license test. 246 and 248 with everything else. Pistols and revolvers. So I'm kind of partial to this Model 10.

It is a Model 10-6 and it should date from around 1974. The first 1200 or so were produced for the New York State Police on special order. Eventually, it became the Model 13-1.
I own one that has been verified as an NYSP issue. Serial number is D707325 and it shipped in May, 1974.

Those stags would class up any old K frame.

He was good with it. Said good job or something and that was that. I was an instructor back in those days so I had to shoot a revolver and a pistol. I scored 248 with the pistol. I think I used a Hi-Power but I am not sure; it was awhile ago. I never used the same guns twice when I took those tests.
We don't submit scores to the state anymore, just Pass-Fail, but since I was an instructor back then he told me the score. (I kind of knew but I was nice about it! )

I've got a M-10, 357 magnum, It came with the ordinal box, etc. The box was marked M-13 but the serial number was the same as my revolver.

Hey, if that ol' girl survived a fire and still looks that good, she deserves to be dressed up like a safe queen!

If she still shoots like she used to then for sure. THAT is the only gun I ever scored 250 out of 250 with on the Texas concealed handgun test.
I might take'r to the range in a day or three. Stay tuned!
