Well, I did it again... I purchased a very nice Model 19-2 6" in the original box today. Those 60's and 70's S&W revolvers were works of art... deep bluing, fantastic fit and finish and smooth and supurb actions. This one wears unmarked original diamond target grips, an un-blemished finish (deep dark blue), and partridge sight. It has the Target Trigger and Target Hammer... and the action and trigger are fabulous by today's standards, and show no sign of ever being modified (I've been a S&W Armorer since 1992). That said the original box label is not marked to indicate Target Trigger or Target Hammer. I've seen law enforcement S&W's sans all the markings for options. As little as this one was ever fired, I can't believe someone adding them (expensive options and not "drop in" parts) to a revolver they never planned to shoot much. Honestly, this could be sold as new. My bet is it lived it's life deep in father's underwear drawer on top of his T-shirts.

Were options "always" marked on the factory label in the 60's ? I note they didn't mark the front sight type either...

Nice find!!! That is one of my favorite combos; K frame, P&R 19 6" with FULL target package. Not to mention a matching box and low round count and no rust etc. Ive seen boxes not have every option ticked so I would not lose sleep over it. Lucky you!

Ditto... I have as well. I used to be responsible for the issue and maintenance of several hundred Model 19, Model 36 and Model 66 revolvers from various agencies beside my own when I first got into law enforcement in 1980. Many were in boxes just like this one, only the rudimentary information indicated and no options ticked although present from the factory. My first issued weapon was a nice Model 19 4"... carried until the semi auto came to town in the 1980's. The County sold our revolvers off when we turned them in at the same price they were offered in trade to upgrade, $50 each. I remember the few Model 66's we had were the very early ones with the stainless rear sights...

This one came with the warranty card, manual and was still wrapped in that anti-corrosion paper. No screwdriver or cleaning supplies. I have plenty of those :-)

Very nice find. The only way to know about the TT/TH is to letter the gun.Of course you do not know the history of the gun. If it was bought by a LEO, S&W would make changes like hammers, triggers, stocks, red ramp, action jobs for a FEW dollars. I used to live 90 miles from factory and brought all my guns there for mods for next to nothing.
