Stunning 19-2 went out on GB tonight
Was anyone else keeping a eye on the amazing 19-2 on GB# 868760848 that went out earlier this evening? Would have been a perfect upgrade for my 4inch blued 19-2 example in my 19-2 collection. 3 T's, about as close as you can get to 100% with box and accessories. Maybe the best looking S&W revolver I have ever seen. Just too much money for me to spend. Although, if I had the extra money I would have spent it. Hopefully it went to a forum member.

I recently sold my 1963 4" 19-2 for $1250 and it wasn't nearly as nice as that one.
It had been fired a lot and even took a trip to the gunsmith one time too for some repairs.
I sold my LNIB 1967 6" 19-2 the same day for $1650.
This one was about as nice as you're going to find.

I hope that you are following the 19-3 with the 2 1/2" barrel. Two days left
(6-11-20 at 6pm) and is at currently $1510. This baby is beautiful as well.

Are you talking about the 19- 5? I've been following that one as well... that will make for an interesting discussion when the auction closes. In deference to the rules, I'll wait until then to comment....
The 4" 19-2 in the OP is beautiful. That seller seems to get some very nice guns.

That sure is a beauty. Love the diamond targets. I have a pristine NIB 19-4,3T. I just need Rubi to polish it for me. Just another unneeded safe queen

Beautiful gun, but seems like a lot of money. Haven't been keeping up with prices for a while. Is a 19-2 worth a lot more than a 19-3?

Love to see them bring big money. I’ve had this unaired beauty for several years. Guess you could say I bought it new since the dealer I got it from decided to keep it for his own collection and never put it out for sale. I did him a big favor and my reward was letting me buy it. Not sure what it would take to buy it, but it would be stupid money

The Catalog gives it about a %50 premium in higher grades.

Last M19 I sold was a 2.5" for nearly $800. Kinda nuts; I'd never pay that kind of money for one again - but it's like Pythons, they don't make them like that anymore. New ones is new ones but they ain't old ones......

They were both exceptionally nice guns.
I just needed to thin the herd.

I've got this exact same 19-2. 1963 4" with the original target diamond grips and box/papers. Yours is beautiful btw. It would appear that all of the 1963 guns had that mirror like blueing

Im surprised the bidding stopped where it did. That would easily fill the top slot for a 19-2 in anyone’s collection.

It's a work of art for sure... and I am still lacking a vintage 4" Model 19 in the collection. But topping $1,425+shipping+transfer fee is not something that I could pull off. I'm not even sure I would do it even if it were possible.
Guess I won't be owning a pristine perfect Model 19-2 in box with everything anytime soon.

Never say never, there are tons of guns out there in private hands. Occasionally the become for sale for one reason or another and the good thing is many are sold privately. I shy away from GB and other auction sites. To many unforeseen issues. I will gladly pay 100$ more for a gun in my hand with no hidden issues. Keep looking around they turn up!

My problem with GB is that you are shopping & bidding against the entire active S&W collecting universe. And that includes thousands of folks who could buy and sell me 10 times just out of their spare change. How the Hell does one compete on GB against that?
That's why my best 'deals' tend to be local ones. Unfortunately, that brings down the supply of high condition S&W collectibles with semi-affordable prices to damn near zero.
One way or another, you're going to have to pay. It's a rich man's game. I'm just sort of along for the ride.

When i was looking for a 19 w/ a 6" bbl to complete my "set". There was one that popped on GB that an elderly gent had w/ a BIN of $450. Don't remember now what dash it was. He had just listed it and I missed out by a few seconds. What a deal but was sad as he had no one to pass it on to coz i emailed him that I would have gladly paid more. He just wanted to recoup a bit over what he paid new for it back in the day.

That's why all my guns were sold on GB.
Except for a couple selective ones that were offered to private collectors at a very good price, for me.

I have mentioned it before, but full package (gun, box, tools, ppwk. etc) high condition guns are going for big bucks. The applies to Smiths and Colts and not just Pythons. This has been a trend for a couple years now.

Yep. The nicer and more scarce or unique it is, the better you're going to do on GB.
On the other hand, for common current production guns, the GB effect is just the opposite. I've taken a beating in that regard. But I do it to get rid of them fast. Consignment in a local shop is far less hassle, but the wait for a sale can be a long one.

So I have $1400 total in the three of these. Of Course I bought the 6" in 1977, the other two in the last year.
So maybe $4000 today?
Of course I won't be selling.

As I’ve told before, paid $105 for the Blue one in Guam.
Carried it in SEA.
Its the last Gun I would ever sell.

It was soo nice I didn't want to shoot it so I sold it.
For some reason I didn't care much for shooting the 4" so I sold it too.
I kept a really nice 66-1 that I really enjoy shooting.

Gotta love those 19 and 66 snubbies. As an old fart, I was pretty close to the first of the line when these became available. Couldn't touch 'em today.

I notice the same well-heeled bidder also snagged that very nice Outdoorsman Sunday night. Sky is the limit with his bidding.
Gee, I wish I could do that!
