Can you post a few more pics for the Model 27-challenged among us?

I really like the grips you put on it. Can you tell us a little more about them? Would like to see the other side.

That’s your version of a truck gun? I didn’t know Rolls Royce made trucks. That gun is in excellent cosmetic condition compared to those people usually have stashed under a truck seat or bouncing around the glove compartment. Ecxept Skeeter Skelton’s truck, maybe.

Here's my 5" M27-2 shipped in May 1975.
Goncala Alves Presentation grips, trigger job and a smooth target trigger.
This is the holster that my brother carried it in back in 1984 when he was assigned to
work back stage with the Secret Service during a visit when President Reagan came to Salt Lake City.
He also wore it at his police academy graduation back in 1981.
This was one of his favorite S&Ws.
I still have the price tag from when he purchased it new.

My truck gun is a Charter Arms Pitbull .45. I'll tell you what I'm going to do, because I like you. I will trade you my nearly new Pitbull for that ratty old Model 27. And if that's what you use for a truck gun, I'll trade you trucks, without even knowing what you drive.

I’ll be the opposing view. Your gun, use it as you like. I, at times, get irritated at some of mine that just sit in a safe. Aren’t they suppose to be used.......

A Model 27 as a truck gun?
I think that's awesome. We tend to forget that these were made to be used, not kept as museum pieces.
What would Skeeter say?

You might try the Dillon Precision website for a holster. I know they have holsters for 5" N-Frames with full underlugs, maybe they have some for other configurations as well.

My truck gun trumps yours...
Well, I can't say that I've ever seen someone purchase a Model 27 for a truck gun, but I think I've got that beat! A few years ago I picked up this Colt Python truck gun at a lgs. They told me that the owner brought in his "truck gun" to trade for something newer. It was wearing Pachmayrs and has its share of dings and dents, but I took it home for under $700. I cleaned it up, put on some Hogue wood stocks and man-oh-man, it's a shooter and extremely accurate. Mechanically it's in excellent shape and the action and trigger are smooth as glass. BTW- I have retired this old girl from truck gun duty, and it now resides alongside my S&W revolvers. And yes, I'm still a die hard S&W revolver man.

The grips were made by me ,one of my first
Tries at grip making. Wife found block of wood
At yard sale $.50 and bought it for me.
Made grips with palm swells like old Cokes.
They are bamboo , very hard stuff.

You know. It's that very reliable pistol that one doesn't mind getting scuffed, dinged, wet, dirty, lost at the bottom of a lake while fishing, etc. I know people that have one.

Truer words have never been spoken. Let's specify the truth. In order, the best revolvers in the last, say 12000 years:
Mod. 29
Mod. 27
Mod. 57
Colt Python
Mod. 28 (Probably should be above the Python)

I have one M29 and I have never shot it.
My very favorite gun is my 6.5" M27.
I sold a very nice 6" M57 and kept my M58.
The only Colt I've held in my hand and liked was a 1911 and I sold it unfired.
I have one M28.

Never held a Colt revolver that I liked.
This is the only Colt that ever felt good in my hand.
