Default Model 19, RB, Nickel, 4" bbl.

Anyone familiar with any 19s made by S&W in this configuration? SN 6K287XX. 1974 shipping.
The only ones I have personally seen were blue and they were in the hands of FBI SWAT team members circa 1973 with the well-known ONI stamp on them.

I realize you could take a 2.5" and send it back for a 4" bbl but there was a way to tell that had been done according to Smith but I can't recall what it was. Had to do with top strap.

So, just curious if this configuration rings a bell?

Happy Father's Day to all fathers out there.

Steve

I expect that only a letter would say for sure. Never seen one personally.

The round butt 2.5 inch frames up by the barrel pin are straight out to the barrel junction. The rear sight also extends right to the barrel junction. The square butt frames have a small dip in the top strap and the rear sight is shorter

You do realize you need to post pictures of a RB 4" nickel M19, don't you?

Back in 1978 or 1979, I bought a 4" blue M19. I prefer RB revolvers, so I round butted this one and took it to the police academy. I shot NRA Expert with it. I wish I could shoot that well today. I guess 41 years does make a difference.
