Default Model 60 No Dash

Hi Guys. Can anybody get me ball park close on what year of Model 60 No Dash I have? Serial #R3998. So, I think the “R” pre-fix means no earlier than 1969. That’s about all I have. Private sale about a year ago and I love it. Sweet old J Frame. Thanks very much.

Welcome! This R prefix gun was produced and also likely shipped that year. These were super popular and sold soon after being made. Enjoy!

With only four digits after the R, it is almost certainly from 1969.

Keep in mind that the Model 60 with no dash number had a very long run, from 1965 until 1988. The -1 and -2 were different variants, overlapping the run of the Model 60. There was a similar situation with the carbon steel Model 36.
