Default 1977-78 36-1 3 inch nickel value?

I have a excellent condition Nickel 36-1 with 3 inch barrel in the original box. Everything numbers correctly. It has been shot, but not much. What would it be valued at?

Thanks

Kelly

That looks to be a very nice example. I'm going to estimate a low of $600 and a high of $750.

Default Model 36 nickel finish?

Is the finish damaged? looks part dull nickel with bright nickel on the end of the barrel?

Thanks

Finish is not damaged, that is my poor photography skills and shadows in my gun room

I think this is a good range.

I paid $600 for this beautiful no dash a couple years ago and thought it a fair deal then. Original grips are in the box.

I agree with the K...Kid. Fair range.

Sellers in some markets recently seem to be far too proud of their Chiefs. Asking prices above $800 are not uncommon, but I don't see many "sales" at those prices.

The 36-1 came out in '67 to denote the heavy barrel 3" Chiefs. It became the standard 3" in '75 when the company stopped making the tapered barrel 3" Model 36 (no dash). In about '88 or '89 the 36-3 replaced the 36-1.

Woohoo, that's a purty one!
At $600, gone in 5 minutes... 750 might take a day or two.
If you're valuing for insurance, $800-900 is not outrageous, as the value is only going up.
Too bad I just bought a 98% 2" nickel 15-4 yesterday, or I'd be joining the rush to your inbox!

I am admittedly a J-frame nut, but I have clearly lost the pulse of this market. To think these might bring short-tubed N-frame money (previous post regarding 800-900 range) is really tough for me to swallow. Glad I started hording J's a long time ago!
