Default Split Personality Model 10-5 carry

I recently developed a new carry gun with interchangeable cylinders. It started as a round butt 10-5 with a mismatched 4" heavy barrel. I sent it to Pinnacle Gunsmithing in PA to mount a 3 inch 10-5 barrel (Thanks to forum member "linde" for parting with the 3 inch barrel) and cut the cylinder to accept 9mm moon clips.

I found a 10-5 nickel cylinder in original 38 special that interchanges. I have small hands so I put Pachmyr Combat Pro grips with exposed backstrap on it.

It shoots both rounds well out to 25 yds. I shoot 38+P 158 gr lead semi-wadcutter HPs in the 38 Special mode but really like Hornaday Critical Duty or Gold Dot 9mm 124 gr HPs. Practice 9mm is a lot cheaper than 38 Special these days. Attached are photos. (BTW, if someone knows how to attach the photos as full size, I'd appreciate it.)

While I personally don't care too much for "pintos " (not being critical, just personal preference), your project seems like an interesting and useful FrankenSmith.

With apparently a new flood of imported police trade Smith Model 10s showing up on Gunbroker, I've thought about a project or two myself.

Thanks for sharing yours.

I am not a fan of pintos either. This was a practical decision. I can tell in a glance which cartridge it is set up for at the moment.

Magnificent idea.

I love that you put function over form with the Pinto scheme. Nothing like getting to the range with 5 boxes of 9mm with a .38 Special cylinder.
