Good buy! Presentation case may set you back a few hundred; however, move the value of the package closer to the $2,000.00 range or above; depending on a number of factors (i.e., LNIB/NIB in an accurate sense or competing buyers).

Default 8 3/8 Presentation case

I forgot I had this one too. We didnt hear his SN so not 100% sure if this is the one he should look for. SCSW 4th edition says presentation cases from 1974-1978 have the molded lip edge around the top insert, but that the gun faced to the right. Hmmm.... (the 1969-1974 version had gun facing either way, but doesnt mention the molded lip edge. Double hmmm....)

That's great news and congrats on your purchase. I agree with several others about your neighbor coming to you FIRST...that doesn't happen very often.

I've become good friends with a great gun show guy; although we're not neighbors, he contacts me right away when he runs across something that he knows i'd be interested in. That is something I really appreciate!
