If a distributor was shipped multiple units of the same model at the same time and they were then received by the retailer from the distributor together, then two revolvers with sequential serials could have been purchased by a single buyer. I'm sure it didn't happen a lot, but it is entirely possible.

It could also happen if a special order included the request for sequential numbers.

Whether it is "rare" really makes not much difference. It is cool!

Maybe a rare special event or maybe just luck of the draw. They were shipping Model 66s to LEOs randomly but rapidly in those days, with departments sometimes making large buys, so it would not be all that likely for a consecutive pair to end up in the same place. If they were issued and carried, the likelihood of them staying together decreases.

As a for instance my ID number at work was #123, then when I joined N-SSA I got the member number 12345. Strange things actually do happenstance!

Indeed they do. When Deb and I bought our first house, shortly after I returned from my two year "vacation" in SE Asia, the address was 11141 Oakwood Dr. Decades later, we bought the house in which we now live (our last house - I plan to die here), the address is 11410 E. Crimsonview Dr. Very similar, although not exactly the same.

My friend has three very early no dash Model 66's with the stainless sights that are consecutive. His father bought them new.
