M-38 Nostalgia
i got this M-38 recently just because I used to carry one back in the '70's around the mean bars and clubs around Dayton, OH. I was in the Ohio NG then which was not very popular after Kent State. I carried it in an ankle holster, which of course was totally illegal in OH at the time. No big deal. The statute of limitations ran out long ago. Anyway, this one presented itself to me and here it is, much like the one back in the day. It numbers to around 1974.

Nice 38. I always liked the airweight bodyguards. A gun bud called yesterday with a 38-3 I imagine looks similar to yours from his description. Without referring to SCSW as to what dash series was in 1974, what is yours?
He also inherited a clean blue 581 ND I'm wanting to look at.

It's a no dash from '73-'74. My wife keeps a 649 in her car.

Back in the 1970s I was a pharmacist in NYC and one of my co-workers carried a M-38. It was only after I left that group to practice law that they told me that they would have signed for a NYC carry permit for me. I was irked.
When I first saw the M38 I thought it was weird. Years went by and I longed for one for a very long time. Then this little puppy came up in the 1990s and I was THERE!!!!

This may sound a little crazy but I bought Karen's 649 as new at a pawn shop in Ft. Worth for $150 OTD. She loves those J-frames.
