S&W model 10-5 grip notched
Recently picked up a 10-5 2” barrel made mid to late 60’s. Very nice condition conservative 95%. I noticed three notches cut in lower left hand grip just below checkering. I would love to know the story!

Those are simply over-run from the checkering tool, Notice how they are perfectly aligned with three of the grooves in the field. Nothing suspicious, or interesting.

Looks like someone overshot the border with the checkering tool. Joe

It almost looks like machine checkering overrun, before the border was cut.
It would be nice to think that it was used to end the careers of 3 hardened criminals!

3 minutes after the thread was posted... That’s pretty darn quick.
You beat me by a minute, so how do you think I feel!
What do they say about great minds?

This one is D 323xxx, maybe close. These grips were a local Dominican's attempt to make grips, a story in itself I'm sure. They are better function than appearance. I put the #'d magnas back on so no nitro pills necessary. Joe
