Default 1968 S&W Chief's Special, a special gift

My son just turned 40, I gifted him a S&W Model 36 Chiefs Special which belonged to my Dad who had a long career in law enforcement, in his latter years he worked as a criminal Magistrate and wore this pistol on his side to work each night. I put together a leather binder with numerous police and detective pictures of my Dad from the late 1930s through the 40s, the album also included a S&W historical letter with the pistol and various personal documents of my fathers which also included a letter written by me in a biography on my father. My son never had an opportunity to meet his grandfather he passed away 5 months before he was born. I'll have to say it was a very proud opportunity for me to present this to him on his 40th birthday. My son told me he never expected to get that while I was alive, I quickly told him I wanted to see him enjoy the ownership of it and not wait for me to depart the Earth :-)

The custom case was made by Glenn Dean of "Classic Chests and more"
I know this pistol is in good hands now, as long as we uphold our second Amendment in this country. God Bless America and the second Amendment! I've kept this pistol in my possession for 41 years.

GOOD ON YOU!!! (Yes, I intended to shout - but with enthusiasm.)

You have done a super thing for not just your son, but for the family for a long time to come. The gun itself is a meaningful gift, but without the notebook it could become just another old gun. With the history included, it can retain all of its family sentimental value for generations to come. I would guess your son was pleased, a reaction that will only grow with the passage of time.

Regards,
Froggie

Another well done to you Sir!
The book is a treasure that enhances the family heirloom , your Fathers revolver. If you have the badge your Dad wore you might wish keep them together for future generations. If you don't have it you can get one similar to it.
It apparent in the images how proud your son is of your very thoughtful gift.
