Need help on age of my Model 64-2
Hi,
I’m a newbie to the site. I recently traded for a Model 64-2 pinned. I want to know the age to see if it was worth a trade.
Model number is 64-2 C1827xxx.
1. Cylinder swings out to the left.
2. C1827xxx. It was hard to make out the number. (Got the number from yoke area, wood grips cover the bottom of the butt) Please let me know if I gave the wrong number and I will take grips off to get number on the bottom of the butt.
3. .38 S&W Spl.
4. 2 inch barrel.
5. Fixed sights.
I hope I didn’t leave anything out. Thank you in advance for you time and help.
Blessings!

I would check under the grip panels. The number you provided doesn't conform. The "C" prefix is incorrect also. If it has a C prefix, it's not a model 64.
Based on your dash number provided, it would be built in 1977. (tapered barrel. gas ring on cylinder)

armorer951 is correct. A C number that low would be from about 1952, long before the Model 64 stainless was introduced, not to mention a 64-2 (began in 1977). Yours should have a D prefix, and it will be higher than D800000. About the time the 64-2 came out, the D numbers went to the xDxxxxx configuration
Pull the stocks to find the real serial number.

Based on this updated number, looks like 1981.

Base on the age of the revolver, what would be a fair price on it? It’s not perfect. I could say it’s a 7 or 8 out of 10. My reason is because I traded for it.
