Model 60 no dash barrel polished?
So i recently got this beautiful Model 60 from approx. 1975. I love it but i noticed that the light catches the barrel more than the frame and it seems more polished. The store i purchased it from said the previous owner kept it in a desk as a backup, which why its in such good condition (i dont even think it was fired before) so my question is do some older Stainless S&W revolvers have this feature?

Usually they match pretty good. If you'd like it to match better, I'd take some Mothers Mag Polish and polish the frame and cylinder a little.

I've seen a fair few stainless Chiefs, and I've never seen one with that treatment.
I'd guess a previous owner polished the barrel and was too lazy to finish the project.
You might be able to return it back to a more original look with a ScotchBrite pad. I've not tried that, but some folks here have had good success. Perhaps one of them will chime in with some guidance.

Agree. Also have a few, never one like this.
Looks like somebody for some reason polished the barrel.

Been looking around at a few online and it looks like this one has the same treatment.

The finish on the frame appears (to me) to be a bead blast finish, not the
usual finish you find normally on a Mod 60. I can't guess why the barrel is polished out, but it was done without disturbing the rest of the frame.

Whatever the reason for doing it, I'd be very surprised if the factory did it.

The very first model 60s (circa 1965-'66) were highly polished but the factory soon discovered it was not worth the effort. I'd agree this barrel either spent a little extra time on the polishing wheel at the factory or was buffed shiny by a previous owner.
You can restore the barrel to match the frame with Scotchbrite pads of varying abrasiveness. I have read the grey gets you closest to the matte finish but doing a search for Forum posts will tell you for certain. Enjoy!

If it were my gun, I would not worry about the finish mismatch and would not consider attempting to match it to the frame. It looks like a good little revolver in its` own right.

I have 30 Model 60's. I do have one similar to yours. Here is an early Model 60 with the high polish finish.
The reason they stopped the high polish finish was the police didn't care for the shiny finish.

Never seen one like that. I've owned two 60's, one I miss, and one I currently own. I have a nickel 38 that is nearly that bright.
