Along the lines of my previous post...
I was NOT in the military but my dad and many uncles were. I understand that in most branches, it was somewhat common for an officer to approach an enlisted soldier on guard duty or whatever, who was assigned a sidearm and request it for inspection. There is a specific and safe protocol to clear, show safe and present the firearm to the requester. Granted, I would NEVER pass my open or concealed firearm to someone I didn't know well and trust with my life. If a close friend or family member asks to see it at a casual gathering, I don't understand the above issues and concerns. No, I wouldn't let said person 'physically interact' with my wife, but I'd let them drive my car or truck.

but this type of function is normally held out in a rural area in the west or southwest parts of our great nation, usually on somebody's ranch.
Can I put in a word for my house and maybe backyard. It ain't no ranch but I sure as heck plan on having a barbecue sometime where the guests come properly dressed.

There's a gal in Cheyenne that can put the finishing
touch on a side of brisket that Texas can't hold a candle to.
For the record, when I'm in Wyoming I EXPECT that kind of barbecue skill!!!!
