66-1 2.5” Score and Question?
My luck continues. I traded an LCP plus $100 for a very clean 15-4 Nickel (In another post in 1980 to Present forum) and now this. My FFL has been sitting on some estate guns finally got a go ahead to sell and he gave me first dibs.
66-2 4” decent but broken front site
60 no dash but a rattle trap- timing was off and cylinder was sloppy
5904 no mag no rear site
And finally a 66-1 2.5” with a Tyler T grip and trigger shoe in decent shape. Shows some holster wear but locks up tight, no end shake or push off - it’s been fired some
I said I’d be interested in the last one
He says $625
SOLD!
A pinned, recessed, red ramp, black rear site, grooved trigger 66-1 in good shape for that price was a no brainer
Well my fun money fund is low but now I have a 15-4 and soon a 66-1 to play with. Have to wait for the permit to come in and like an idiot I didn’t take a picture but will when I get it
The day before I gave some 9mm to a friend who retired so karma pays off!
Questions
The serial number is 96Kxxxx which shows a date of 1981 but it has a recessed cylinder.
Where they still using recessed cylinders in 1981?
I know to avoid 125 grain .357 which is fine as all I have at the moment are 158 grain but is there anything to look for or worry about with a recessed cylinder - this will be my first revolver with one.

That’s a great deal on the 66. I’m seriously jealous.

That would be at least an $800 gun in my neck of the woods. I would have paid that in a heartbeat! Congrats!

They phased out P&R guns in 1982.

Yeah, there is one thing - you'll be smiling so much every time you look at it, you'll have to get a new screen name!
Congrats and enjoy your new stainless work of art!

Good job on that 1! I know that they are not the same, but I talked down the seller of my 66-2, 2.5" from $795 to $725. Really like it! Have fun shooting yours! Bob

Wow, that was a stroke of good luck...congrats! Being in the right place at the right time can sure pay off. Normally you're the 'next guy' right after someone else just got the deal. Dammit, if only I'd have come in sooner!
