K Frame Trigger Weight

Sort of an odd ball question, but what is factory spec on trigger pull weights for the K frame. I ask because I have a snub with a 8.5lb DA and 2lb SA trigger, which seems particularly light (and nice).

Your gun may not be stock. If you change back to stock springs, I would expect the SA to be 3 and DA 10. YMMV. That's about average on my old original but well-used K frames.

Most of the factory K,L, and N frames I've seen are in the 12 to 14 lb. range for DA and 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 lb. for SA. They vary some, but that seems like the average of the ones I've seen.

Please be very careful of that super light SA trigger pull. That is much too light for any other use than a range target situation. The DA pull is good for self-defense work. Never put that handgun in SA mode in a SD situation. One would just be asking for a negligent discharge just at the wrong time.

Appreciate the warning on the light SA pull, but it isn't a problem for several reasons, including the fact that it's a safe queen. That being said, the nice trigger may cause me to rethink that decision.

Sounds light to me. Questions that should be addressed:
Is the strain screw tight?
Is the strain screw the correct length?
Is the main spring a factory spring?

My S&W armorer's manual, dated about 8 years ago, lists:
"In no case should a S&W revolver be adjusted to a single-action trigger pull of less than 2.5 lbs."

Also listed are Hammer weights for .38 Special of 3.25 lbs and for .357 Magnum of 3.50 lbs. The hammer weight (see below) along with the rebound spring, really determines the double action pull weight.
