Default New to me Model 15-3

New to me 1974 Model 15-3 (NIB) with Eagle Heritage rosewood cokes. I think the M15 is one of S&W's best efforts. Think I got 5 of them now

Sorry, I take lousy pictures

Hold it! Is this my friend Pete, the guy that was once thinking of selling his K frames to dominate the world supply of 28’s? Beautiful gun as was the Nickel L frame you acquired not long ago. Congrats on a great purchase. I have a real affinity for nice K’s.

Default You and me both

Just bought a 15-4 4” nickel with a slight blemish on the cylinder see attached, a 66-1 2.5” with Tyler grip and waiting to see if I won a bid on a 15-3 blue 2” in a few minutes ago.

All within the last two months so I have to replenish my gun money before I get more. They’re addictive and those prices were too tempting to miss out when I see similar ones going for $750 or more.

Jim

I still have my eye open for another M28

I still have yet to clean up the L frame 586 with a bit of flitz, and then give it the Rubiranch treatment with some wax

Certainly some tempting prices. Below is my 15-3 X 2" with Culina osage orange combats.

The other one is a slightly modified 1973 M15-3

Somehow I can't seem to shake the desire for a 2" Model 15 even though a 2 1/2" 19 makes more sense.......and the 3" 66s are even more practical.

Nice catch.... my wife's house gun is a 4" 15!

I am not real big on 2"" guns or J frames, but I do have the 15-3 X 2", and a mint 1968( D138 ) M10-5 X 2"

Has there ever been a better revolver than the S&W K38/15 ??

I've owned this 15-4 for many years; it has the smoothest action of any of my, too many, revolvers. Admittedly, she also has many more rounds fired than any other of my revolvers.

Yea, 2" 15's can be nice.

Funny story on this 15. Like a dummy I sold it but Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson were smiling down on me because 6 months later the guy came in with it and I bought it back. A shipment of one to NY. NY. with factory WO/RR sights. It's a -3.

As I said in my original post, they are one of S&W's best efforts. The K38 is wonderful too. The pic below is another 15-3, and a 1950 K38.
The stocks on the 4" I bought in about 1973. They are rosewood, and went through my years as an active duty town constable

You mean beyond my M28 fixation?

BTW M28 was my first revolver, and M15-3 was my second

Below is a 15-2 with Culina Italian olive grips. Grips were bought to go on a M66. I have not found one yet

Default Model 15s or any K-frame for that matter.

They are all good. I have about a dozen or so K- frames and love every one of them. My current carry is actually a 4" model 67.

The trigger pulls on my Model 15-3 and on my Model 67 - no dash, are superb. Model 15-3 is 3 pounds 2 ounces, and the Model 67 - no dash is 3 pounds 6 ounces, but I have not shot the Model 67 very much yet. They only get better.

M15 was the Cadillac of .38s, I carried one as my issued weapon for years.

I've been told by people in the know that Robins AFB has/had a rather large stash of M-15s in storage. Same with Ft. Rucker (M-10s, Victorys, 15s etc.) even though Rucker is not known as a logistics type of facility. It would be nice if DoD would turn them loose via CMP.

To me, the Mod 15, 4" is the "Classic" S&W. The image that first comes to mind whenever I hear Smith & Wesson mentioned.
