H.H. Harris ordered 500 5 inch Model 29s back around 1958. Most of them were shipped there over the years. Interesting that 10 were shipped to LA. There were a few that have had threads here that were shipped earlier on special order.
Maybe Doc44 will elaborate on the history.

The 44 Magnum with a 5-inch barrel is certainly a scarce revolver with around 300 being shipping from 1956 to 1973. Most were shipped in 1958 (44 Magnum, no model number, 4-screw frame) and then again in 1963 (Model 29-2). H. H. Harris probably received around 70% of the Magnums made with a 5-inch barrel. The 44 Magnums with a 5-inch barrel shipped in 1956 (one, the only one with a 5-screw frame) and 1957 (three, 4-screw frame, no model number) were all special orders for one revolver. The Model 29-2 is the rarest with probably less than 100 shipped (the Model 29-1 is actually the rarest, with only three known).
I am currently writing an article on the 44 Magnum with a 5-inch barrel for publication in the S&WCA Journal that will contain lots of great information about this rare variation.
The two Model 29-2s with a 5-inch barrel shown below were shipped to H. H. Harris in March 1963. Click on the photo for a better look.

What’s better than a 5” 29-2...
Two HH Harris 5” 29-2 consecutively numbered in chrome!
Doc, I would really like to contribute pics or anything else for your article. I also am lucky enough to have a friend who has two blued Harris 5”’s

Chrome would be bad. But nickel is another matter. I do hope you're talking nickel Mauser17.

Yes nickel, not chrome
You are correct, they are nickel, not chrome. Still suffering from CRS (can’t remember ****).

Doc,
Do you have any information regarding the number of nickel 5” guns were ordered, made, or delivered. The only information I found suggested 12.

Twenty-one 44 Magnums with a 5-inch barrel and factory nickel finish have been reported by collectors to date. The first shipment of five was made to H. H. Harris on July 25, 1958.
