I was told by people at Smith & Wesson that the small hole was first. The reason they went to a larger hole was, it was easier to put the large hole thru a keychain.

Kinda regarding the SATs, I have the black 9 knurled one; I guess it came with my dad's K22. Is there a reason for the handle to be hollow? I can see where it would be handy if you had another tool to go with it. I've looked on the net but never really found a good reason except maybe to make it lighter for shipping?

ANOTHER QUESTION ABOUT SAT'S
FLAT 2 TIPS --- PRESENT ONE --- My large hole is 0.25 and small one is 0.12.
IS THIS RIGHT?
I am assuming the small hole is rarer. CORRECT?
THANKS, ANGEL

I haven’t measured the sizes, but 1/8” & 1/4” sounds about right.
One of our knowledgeable members recently posted that the flat SAT with the small hole was earlier. I’d guess that the earlier SAT with the small hole is less common.
