Serial numbers were not assigned to particular model revolvers. In the case of the Model 18, that is a K frame target sight revolver. All K frame target sight revolvers shared the same serial number series. This includes the Models 14, 15, 17, 18 and 19.

Given a particular serial number, about the best that can be done is provide an approximate ship date for that particular gun.

If you are looking specifically at the Model 18-2, the serial number would probably be somewhere between about K430xxx and K716xxx, and the ship date would be in the 1962-1967 period.
